High heartrate and capped upper pressure

Post by bbridge_GA » Sat May 25, 2024 3:07 pm

I wear a Fitbit and like to use it to track my sleep quality and heartrate. My resting heartrate ranges from 53-80 and up to 145 max when exercising which I think is pretty healthy. My Fitbit has recorded 3 dates recently when my heartrate was between 160-180 while asleep. I didn't know if it was a malfunction of the Fitbit. I haven't looked at my CPAP data recently. This made me look at my data on Oscar to see what was going on. One of these events (heartrate of 180) correlated with a 30 second apnea that was preceded earlier by some strange waveforms earlier in the night. The others were not as clear of a relationship to a long apnea or anything unusual. I did notice that my pressure setting was capped at 10. My average pressure is typically around 6-7 with my 95% pressure around 9. I don't know why the cap was reduced to 10, but apparently there are times when I need more pressure. I have adjusted the top setting to 18 and plan to see if there are any more of these high hearrate events. I have also been having a lot of daytime sleepyness recently and hope that gets better with this adjustment. Any ideas about the funny waveforms? Here is the whole night.

How old are you?

I have adjusted the top setting to 18
Many of us, even those with low-pressure needs, set the max pressure to 20. The machine will not go any higher than it needs to.

Can you post pix of those wave forms?

I’d recommend that you ask your doctor for a Holter monitor to see what’s going on.

Here is the 2am apnea that corresponds to the heartrate being really high and the wave form earlier in the night zoomed in.

I am 63 with a normal ekg and normal heart ultrasound. My ex was a holter tech and put one on me in 1985. He said my heart rate went crazy in the middle of the night. In hindsight, I have always wondered if that wasn't when I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea...via holter and 20 years before my formal diagnosis. A follow-up with a cardiologist showed a slight murmur... that no one has mentioned since then.

Sure wish rubicon would take a look at that zoomed in area.

Also, could you zoom in further on just the area between 0:20 and 0:30---in other words, zoom in close enough where we can see the individual breaths.

And, do you remember being restless at all around this time? Do you remember any wakes during the night?

Finally, do you remember waking up to deal with any leaks during the night?

Lots of us have "slight murmurs" that are nothing to worry about in themselves without other accompanying problems that may or may not matter either.

1985? Time for another one. All kinds of reasons you might be having a high heart rate.

In OSCAR, click on the Events tab and tell us how long that apnea is.

If you upload your data to a free account at SleepHQ.com and post the link in this thread, we can zoom in to take a close look at your data.

Agree, look particularly to rule out Proximal AFIB.

https://prnt.sc/IbNom3O4KVeW is zoomed in :20 to :30.
I don't remember or have fitbit sleep data on my waking on that night. No leaks during that :20-:30 time period. Generally, I don't move much at all during the night. I have leaks some nights, but usually not enough for the red leak flag to show up in the morning. I usually just re-seat my mask if it ever leaks. I have a mouth strap, but I have quit using it lately. I just ordered some mouth tape because i just got a mouthguard from the dentist.

I have a period of similar wave data more recently with the pressure cap set higher. https://prnt.sc/lZVQ8VPw3ouG
