WTF! Don't most of you have ten-year-old bricks?

That's awful that they laughed.surf_rower wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:29 pmSo today I went to a sleep doc for the first time in maybe 8 years, having moved to a new state. When opened my case to display the Respironics "brick," she laughed out loud! Later her assistant came in the examining room to say she couldn't read my SD card (SleepyHead reads it fine), and she also looked at my machine, and she also laughed out loud.

Is that the machine that's been recalled because of the possible health effects of inhaling degrading foam?surf_rower wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:29 pmSo today I went to a sleep doc for the first time in maybe 8 years, having moved to a new state. No, it's not one of the serial numbers that was recalled. But I'd hate to think they'd laugh at a patient using a harmful machine!Conrad wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 8:54 amIs that the machine that's been recalled because of the possible health effects of inhaling degrading foam?surf_rower wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:29 pmSo today I went to a sleep doc for the first time in maybe 8 years, having moved to a new state. Perhaps that's why they are laughing?

They had a list of serial numbers and it wasn't on it.Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:11 amsurf_rower wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:07 amNo, it's not one of the serial numbers that was recalled.
Are you absolutely certain it wasn't on the recall list?
My understanding it was all machines after the M series and your 450 is definitely after the M series models.
Both the 50 series and 60 series were included in the recall ....all models.

Thanks for asking, I rechecked it and it's on the list now. I checked carefully in 2021 and it wasn't on it. Of course someone could have made a mistake, but I remember being very careful and reading the directions. I still have an email telling my siblings that I was careful.Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:32 amYou went by a list of some sort trusting those yahoos to make sure it wasn't on the list?surf_rower wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:22 amThey had a list of serial numbers and it wasn't on it.Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:11 amsurf_rower wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:07 amNo, it's not one of the serial numbers that was recalled.

If you used the automated system...did you make sure that you didn't make a typo?
It was my understanding that ALL 50 series models were part of the recall.
I would be really, really, really surprised if your single model 450 was exempt.

Amazing that they expect us to look at the back and see a small 450P and conclude that it means "50 series."Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 10:41 amThanks for checking again. Like I said...all the System One models were included in the recall but perhaps your particular serial number fell through the cracks at the beginning of this whole mess.
To be honest I doubt it is going to hurt you after all this time but then again I am OCD about some things and Philips Respironics handling of this whole mess leaves a lot to be desired. Philips is on my "don't have anything to do with them" list.
I won't be recommending any of their products just out of sheer principle if for no other reason.
And now they got a new problem (overheating) with their new DreamStation models.....makes me rethink all their supposed quality control tests.
I just lost all trust in them.
You could remove the foam but again....we shouldn't have to do that.
When you get your new machine....I don't know that I would want another Philips Respironics product.

I'm looking at my husband's System One that he barely used. It says 560P on the back. I guess that magically becomes 60 series.
Also their photos of the machines are minuscule, even on my giant monitor.
Maybe I'd be safer using his, as it's barely used, but the other one hasn't bothered me that I know of. Where's the foam?
Maybe my doc has a loaner I can use till they replace this. (Philips probably won't replace it because it's too old.)
Agree, I don't want any more Philips products either. I read the article about the overheating.

Interesting information that would have been nice to hear from Philips at the time.

Yes, I was looking at those pics today. But the issue is they did not list ANY numbers or names that are actually imprinted on the machine. NOTHING matched, or matches now, what they put on their website.SleepGeek wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 2:00 pmIs this the place you were looking at pics?surf_rower wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 10:52 amAmazing that they expect us to look at the back and see a small 450P and conclude that it means "50 series."

Should be a place to put in the serial # of your device to register it if it is part of the recall.
Just be sure you are not using the serial # of the humidifier.

Might be time to revisit to make sure you are putting in the correct S/N.surf_rower wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 5:14 pmI read all their instructions carefully and entered the serial number of my machine or looked at a list of serial numbers that they published.
