My understanding is that "divan" is a slang term used for a lazy snorkler who floats along the surface or the water in a prone position and therefore does not ever actually need raising.

I used a wedge pillow for a while until I got my machine. I didn't find it all that comfortable, though. The pillow, not the machine.
