There is some sort of leak number that gets shown with the "Show AHI" turned on in the clinical setup menu area....so that people can get the limited data that the machine's LCD screen shows.
It's all explained in the clinical manual...that I guess someone hasn't bothered to get and/or read yet.
I forget off the top of my head which leak number it gives though....and no time to go look it up when people need to get their own manuals and do their own reading.
I provided the link...they have to do their own part of the work.
The LCD screen shows "Mask Fit""as a percentage for one day, 7 days, 30 days. Not particularly helpful as it is after the fact. There ia a "Check Mask Fit" on the clinical menu which runs for 40 seconds. I don't use it, I guess because I can tell immediately if the mask is leaking as soon as I turn the machine on.

Helpful enough I suppose depending on what it shows as that percentage. If it is 100% perfect with zero time in large leak then a person at least knows they didn't hit large leak territory. I never said it was that useful though  ...just that there is a leak number of sorts.
I have a PR S1 and that leak number is a 90% total leak number....couldn't remember what the DreamStation showed but I knew it wasn't same type of number as my S1 machine.
Though if I was seeing 100% all across the board with the DreamStation...I don't know if I would be in a big hurry to dig deeper unless leaks were waking me up. All I ever care about is if I hit large leak territory and how much time I might have spent there.
If I never hit it...I don't need to know how much time I didn't spend there so I don't need to see the leak line myself.

But overall I agree with you...the pitiful data on Respironics LCD screens is next to useless but if someone doesn't have a SD card for some reason or doesn't have a computer.....it's better than no data.

You are right, at night if you knock your mask loose or pull the hose off, the "Mask Fit" feature is of no use.
Yes, you might get the mask set up right, (and many people do) but that doesn't tell you anything about whether it leaks during the night as pressure changes, and you move around.

I can laugh about it now, but remembering the first week or so of using the Dreamstation was very disappointing. They had me locked out of everything except the ramp and I dialed through those screens and thought.... THIS IS IT??? What a big zero and I didn't know anything until I found this board and your reference to the other apnea board. Once I downloaded the "Providers Manual" and sleepyhead, I was able to start moving forward to better sleep. At that point I was at about 5 weeks. I can see how others give up on these machines because they just don't get the right help from the vendors or the doctors. And you are right about the Respironics screen. It is a joke. I like mine now because I learned how to hack it, but if it wasn't for that I really don't know where I would be with this thing. Thanks to you people. :)
