OK I gotta stick up for guest posting.

When I started on xpap in May 2005 I searched all over for info and this and other forums where people shared their experiences and what worked for them helped me immensely.

In the beginning I didn't register right away. I hung around awhile until I felt comfortable and then I registered. Some people are leary of signing up for things. I know that this forum required minimal info, but for the computer wary even that can be intimidating.

This past spring my daughter spent 72 days in the PICU at a hospital 2 hours from home. I had to stay with her all the time, only getting home one day a week. I used the computers in the family support rooms at the hospital. No cookies so no signing in. I posted as "3isles not guest" but of course technically it was a guest post. I needed to be able keep in touch here and am so glad I still could.

AND I think this thread shows more clearly than anything I could say that registered users can be just as divisive and backbiting as any anonymous poster.

There, I said it and now I can employ my good forum user skills and only read what I want to and ignore the rest.

Two thoughts come to mind:

1. A jerk is gonna be a jerk, whether we require him/her to register or allow posting as a guest.
2. After wrestling with a pig in the mud for a while, ya gotta realize.....the pig LIKES it!!
