It really is a laugh that we're being assaulted every hour with spam, including hardcore porn at this very moment (which I was unable to delete) and they take away the "delete spam" button from many of us!

Let's face it Vader, we're just not worthy of the awesome responsibility.

Missing spam button

Post by kteague » Sun Sep 03, 2006 7:32 pm

There was a post last week where someone's Spam Whacker was missing and it turned out it was due to deleting a legitimate entry. After discussion their button was to reappear.

If there were no safeguards applicable to all, what's to stop someone with a burr under their saddle from deleting things just because they disagree or for other motives? But mistakes happen, and if that's the case, maybe talking with the administrators would suffice.

I did read someone's post that they have used the spam button to delete an entry of their own. Since that post wasn't by definition spam, I wonder if that affected their privileges.

Allowing the membership to delete spam was risky just because so many humans - so much potential for human error. I wouldn't take it personal. The more posts one deletes, statistically the more likely a mistake is to happen, so I take it as a sign some folks were doing what they were asked to do.

You're right, we're not worthy.
First the apnea diagnosis, and now this.....
:::sigh:::

It's not personal. It's just not important.
Spam wacking, while a fun diversion, isn't a real high priority for me.

If the powers that be decide I am worthy once again I'll be glad to do my share in keeping spam at bay. If not, someone else will pick up the slack I'm sure.

They may already be testing something as I have noticed that there are not as many coming in lately ... but what do I know?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

....or it could be that all the "trusted" soldiers that have been armed with spam zappers, are doing a great job without us.

Off-subject, but I have to ask. I cannot wait any longer.
I thought someone would ask, but if they have, I missed it.
Tooly, I love your dog, what is her/his name?
Tell us about her/him, please.

Tooly's Pics

Post by birdshell » Sun Sep 03, 2006 8:52 pm

I would like to know in what approximate year each of Tooly's pictures were taken. The evolution of the facial hair is pretty interesting.

The dog probably has not changed its facial hair very much.

Deleting of Spam privileges removed?

Post by Offerocker » Mon Sep 04, 2006 12:07 pm

IF some are no longer able to delete spam
AND it is due to action taken by Site Moderator
Then
I would suggest that the member in question BE NOTIFIED prior to taking
away the privilege

Else
The problem is due to something else, and is sporadic.
End-if.
