..tomorrow I am scheduled for a second try at a tritation study....first time no good readings because I woke every hour (I think I said this before)...any advise on what should I do on my part to make sure that this time all goes ok?.....if this time fails again i will refuse a third attempt because nothing will change...as they say "repeating the same actions hoping that results will change" will always fail...i am really upset about all this study process..I know I should be cool and positive, which I am trying very hard....
This time I got to the conclusion that I will turn in bed if I so desire and the hell with "connections" and tube...last time I was not confortable and self-concious about the mask and tube and air and 2 pillows etc...so I never found a confortable position...if you tell me that this is the way in the future, I think I will revise my will.....

Ralph, ask your doctor for an Rx for ambien (generic: zolpidem tartrate). A lot of us had to do it when we had sleep studies because it's a really unnatural sleep environment... nothing to be ashamed of and you won't be considered a 'junkie' . My sleep doctor said it's no big deal and he can factor ambien into the mix and still get a good diagnosis. He said he does that every day and it's a lifesaver for people uncomfortable with sleep labs and all that entails.svo wrote:..tomorrow I am scheduled for a second try at a tritation study....first time no good readings because I woke every hour (I think I said this before)...any advise on what should I do on my part to make sure that this time all goes ok?.....if this time fails again i will refuse a third attempt because nothing will change...as they say "repeating the same actions hoping that results will change" will always fail...i am really upset about all this study process..I know I should be cool and positive, which I am trying very hard....

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

My sleep tech expected I might have to go for a 2nd titration visit, the first was so awful, but the doc was able to suggest a setting of 8. I felt like you, if I was going to have to go again I wasn't sure I would. Definitely ask the doc for sleep meds, my sleep center couldn't offer, you had to get them from the doc. I would suggest taking your own pillow if you didn't before. Best of luck for a good study!

If the sleep study doesn't work out, ask for an auto CPAP. That is the minimum I would accept.
That will allow you to self titration with a little help from your doctor, DME, and a lot of help from the folks here.
Knowing what I know now, if I ever failed a sleep study I would just self titration from the start.
Fortunately both of my sleep studies were in pleasant facilities with competent techs and everything went well.

And once you get your own set up you can get it set up so you can toss and turn, so don't worry about having to sleep in one position for the rest of your life.
I just got a new mask that gives me so much freedom (DreamWare), combined with my homemade hose hanger and "sleep phones" for the podcasts that help me sleep. Before I had to wrestle the hose a little and switch ears for my ear bud, so this is a big improvement!

call the Dr. office ... they can send an order to the sleep lab to give you a "PILL"
They have them available there

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

I agree, a phone call is all it takes from any of your doctors - probably even your dentist.grayghost4 wrote:call the Dr. office ... they can send an order to the sleep lab to give you a "PILL"

To other newbies out there: Try and get and test your sleeping pills way before your sleep lab appt. They work for most everybody but it's best to test them out before your sleep test and in the comfort of your own home. Like I said, they do work for most everybody but there can be exceptions. There are other Z-meds and sleeping pills besides Ambien,, so there are several ways to go. In summary, just try to find something effective BEFORE the night of your sleep test.
