apap? cpap? respironics 560 reviews?
Re: apap? cpap? respironics 560 reviews?
I have a 560P rev 0.0 version3.01. I do not see any daily AHI just 7 and 30 day average and no option to preheat the humidifier
I found the preheat humidifier option. I had silent mode on so I didn't get the beep after 5 seconds and its pretty difficult to see the icon when is so poorly lit. And on top of that there is no air circulation like there is on the S9.

The control in the preheat is not in the menu - its a knob function:Uncle_Bob wrote:I do not see any preheat option. I have a 560P rev 0.0 version3.01.

About thirty minutes before you go to bed, push the knob down (don't turn it, push it like a button) and hold it down (five to six seconds) until you see the humidifier symbol to the left of the knob light. It will be yellow if a heated tube is connected and blue if it a regular tube is connected. Then release the pressure on the knob. This light signifies that the humidifier is preheating.
Hope this helps!
Re: apap? cpap? respironics 560 reviews?
thanks I edited my post after I found that out. I'm switching mask and like to reset my data but I found the reset option does not do anything to reset the AHI. And I still do not get anything other than 7 or 30 day AHIquietmorning wrote:The control in the preheat is not in the menu - its a knob function:Uncle_Bob wrote:I do not see any preheat option. I have a 560 and it shows 1 day, 7 day, and 30 day AHI. I don't understand why yours doesn't. I see no place to turn it on or off.Uncle_Bob wrote:And I still do not get anything other than 7 or 30 day AHI

Maybe, since you're in auto-cpap mode, it's ommitting the daily AHI number? I'm running it as a straight cpap and don't have the 90% data. Regardless, the 7 and 30 day avgs are the only important numbers.Uncle_Bob wrote:thanks I edited my post after I found that out. You have to hold the reset or erase button choice down for a number of seconds. It will reset all therapy data to 0 and that includes AHI.Uncle_Bob wrote:I'm switching mask and like to reset my data but I found the reset option does not do anything to reset the AHI.
I have done it on a 560 that I picked up for someone else. I erased all the prior user's that way. I don't remember if it was 5 seconds or 10 seconds.
You could do this daily and have a daily AHI if you wanted. PITA though..but that's how I used to get a daily AHI when I was using the M Series and before I got the software.
I am thinking that the single AHI feature on the 560 machines is something that was added to later firmware and yours probably doesn't have it. I don't know when the change was made. Sorry yours doesn't include it but if you can see the 7/30 day numbers and not 1 night...yours doesn't have it.

I did get my series 60 as soon as they came out. Looks like I got all the intial bugs and stuff
Maybe there is a firmware update.
Thanks anyways

UB,
I think I read somewhere that you have to hold BOTH the control button and the ramp button down until you hear the beep while reset is highlighted on the screen.

Re: apap? cpap? respironics 560 reviews?
I have the 560 & so does my hubby & its a great little machine. In comparison to some of my past machines, I do mean little & easy to travel with.
As for the TMJ & teeth issues, since you know up front, if you teeth begin to move you can be fitted for a retainer to wear just at night.
As for making the choice, I personally would rather go with CPAP, which is a very well proven therapy. If you get good therapy for sleep apnea, you will probably see a difference and your bodily organs will thank you. OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) affects not only your heart, but other organs too such as the kidneys & pancreas. My hubby was pre-diabetic before starting CPAP & his blood sugars are normal now, as is his A1C. He has more energy too.
As for myself, I don't think I'd still be here if I hadn't been treated with CPAP 13yrs ago. I was told I had severe OSA, my hubby has only mild to moderate. For me, it took time before I could see a difference, but now I cannot sleep without my machine - at all. The road was rougher for me when I started because I didn't have this forum for help.
When you are thinking on this & weighing your pro's & con's, just look over this forum & you will see most of us are committed users. When someone drops in such as you did, everyone will welcome you with open arms (well, keyboards) to help you with this life transition. The choice of CPAP is up to you, but here you will find a lot of moral & technical support on everything from choosing the right machine to finding the right mask. Many of us have little 'tricks' to help make a mask seal better, and that's just an example of the wonderful support I found here. I wish this forum had been here for me 13 yrs ago, but I can say I have benefited from this forum tremendously.
Let us know what road you decide to take on your journey toward health.

Re: apap? cpap? respironics 560 reviews?
I travel on the job about 25% of the time -- on average. The 560 travels well. It would be useful to also carry a small power strip if you think you may be in a hotel room. (I always check my regular luggage, and the power strip goes in that.) I take the 560 in its carry case, and my other carry-on holds everything else. But as others said, you can still take a third carry-on item, as this is a medical item. I'm lucky in that I don't need my humidifier, but I have traveled with that as well, and just got distilled water at my destination (and then left it behind when I returned).
New To CPAP/APAP. Need Advice ...
Hi, everyone:
I tried a (horrible) CPAP machine about five years ago. Gave it the old college try and could NOT sleep with it whatsoever. It was the most uncomfortable, claustrophobic device ever, so I gave up completely. Well, my husband strongly encouraged me to revisit this because my sleep apnea is now severe (and so is my snoring).
I am expecting the following next week: Respironic APAP with Nasal Pillow Airfit P10 mask.
Any experiences with these? Please tell me I can do this!

Also...can you start a new topic/thread so that everyone can see it and respond and your stuff won't get mixed up with the old stuff in this old thread? You will get more attention and help if you have your own thread because a lot of members don't read the old threads.
And yes...you can do it and we will be here to help sort out any issues you have and I (along with a lot of other members here) am familiar with the machine and I use that P10 mask myself...it's about as next to nothing on your face as you can get.
