Doug, be aware that this HDM muffler is designed to lessen the perceived noise coming up the hose to the CPAP patient due to turbulence of the airflow within the hose. So it will probably be effective for the user, but it will probably not make any difference to your wife hearing noise from the machine itself. Certainly worth a try for you, but doubtful if it would make any impact in reducing the noise your wife hears when you are using the machine - for that she may want to try foam ear plugs.

I have been using a relatively small stand-alone humidifier chamber attached to my Z1 Auto in between the machine and the mask to accomplish the same muffler effect until I get one of these "Q-Tubes" and it's been very effective for me as the user with the mask on, but it makes no difference in the ambient noise level of the Z1 itself as experienced by someone else in the room..........hope this makes sense

The Q-Tube should be much better for me because my humidifier chamber/muffler setup basically negates the benefits of having the small packable size of the Z1 because the humidifier chamber is about the size of the Z1, so I am looking forward to see/hear how well the Q-Tube works because it doesn't impact the size and packability of the Z1 too much.
