What benefits have you got from CPAP?
What benefits have you got from CPAP?
I see a lot of negativity at times. And it saddens me when some people tell me that I'll start PAP treatment and still not get any better and will just complain. Why is that? Do a lot of people not get better? If you have gotten better, what are the benefits that you can actually feel? Remember, I'm here to get better. I'm not interested in failing.

I'm going to follow the advice of kaiasgram, and not feed into your obsessions, and not engage.
I suggest that everybody else follow suit.

Re: What benefits have you got from CPAP?
I used to nap all the time. I was tired even after napping. My husband said my snoring kept him awake. My then young children used to laugh when I would stop breathing/snoring when I napped in the living room. They didn't understand what was wrong with me back then and neither did I.
The last about 17 years I've been on cpap I only nap once in a while and that's when my 3 grands wear me out after a strenuous day of play. I have oodles of energy. I no longer worry about not breathing or snoring. My husband is happier. It's one less for me to worry about! It was well worth being diagnosed for me.
I struggled a bit at first. I was a mouth breather all my life and stomach sleeper to boot. They didn't have nasal pillows back then. I just found and pitched my first mask. That thing was scary!!! So I wore a chin strap for less than 2 weeks was good to go. No more mouth breathing. I just found that strap too, lol. Nothing like the ones they sell now! It may have taken a few weeks to get used to everything and learn to side sleep but I felt better from the first night. I was relieved to know what was wrong with me and that there was a solution.
If there was a cure, I still would use cpap only at the lowest setting possible! It's just part of me now. Like being rocked to sleep.
I really do hope you find some peace! I'm rooting for you!

I can now put up with people who ask incessant questions. I am no longer referred to as " Hungry Mama Bear" by the gene carriers. I am smarter, nicer and more tolerant and happier.
I still don't deal with stupid a- holes very well and enjoy stomping on trolls. Since being on xpap I can stomp harder and nastier.

the numbers during a sleep test don't tend to lie. if you need PAP therapy, then...you need it. the alternative is that you continue to suffer and increase your risk of cardiac problems and untimely death. i'd rather wear a mask and be slightly discomforted than die in my sleep from something i could have easily prevented.

My wife is happy since I no longer snore.
I'm happy since I rarely get up during the night for a bathroom break. YMMV

Thanks, I'll look into it. I feel like my leash here is getting shorter. People just don't want to hear it and hold my hand anymore. I can understand but am a bit saddened by the hostility. I've had to deal with my problem for a long time.

Gee, this site is "the-site-which-cannot-be-named" there as we are "associated with a commercial site". Gene carriers...lol...reminds me of my brother referring to male junk as wedding tackle...or the time I got my niece to flip the bird at my dad...BlackSpinner wrote:I can now put up with people who ask incessant questions. Questions are only worthy of being answered if the answer is listened to. Otherwise...WTF is the point?
