Airfit F10 question
Airfit F10 question
Hi folks, one more Newbie (uhh, 3 years now) question: when I tried the Airfit F10 about a year ago, I was surprised by how loose the mask elbow connected into the mask frame (is that the right verbiage?). And when I torqued the elbow up or down or right or left I was able to induce leakage. And I was not torquing (tweaking ) too hard at all. But, when i played with an F10 at my DME's office the other day, the connection seemed tighter and less prone to leakage. Has anyone noticed this issue or am I just sleep deprived? Thanks!
Re: Airfit F10 question
I have been using the Quattro for almost 6 years....About 6 months ago I decided to try the F10...I had the same problem with the elbow connect to the mask. The DME exchanged the elbow and it still leaked. The third elbow worked, but by that time I decided to go back to my Quattro. If I remember correctly, there is a small gasket that may not fit right and that causes the leak.

Re: Airfit F10 question
Roboski, why are you trying to induce leakage? I'm an F10 user, and as far as I can tell, it's supposed to be that way.. it was the same way with my previous mask, Quattro Air, which uses the same cushion and swivel assembly as the F10. Most nights, according to Sleepyhead, I do not go above the red leak line, which is within normal parameters. I rarely get into large leak territory. There is some natural venting for leakage in the swivel area, as well as the venting that is built in to prevent rebreathing. It could just be a manufacturing flaw, but it probably isn't anything to be concerned about, but keep in mind that there will always be an airflow through the vents in the swivel. That's the way it's designed. I hope this helps.Roboski wrote:Hi folks, one more Newbie (uhh, 3 years now) question: when I tried the Airfit F10 about a year ago, I was surprised by how loose the mask elbow connected into the mask frame (is that the right verbiage?). Re: Airfit F10 question
Hi Library Lady, I should have been clearer in that I wasn't trying to induce leaks, they just happened when I moved around in bed and my hose went this way and that. And after three years my wife has well learned the sound of normal mask exhaust versus mask leakage, the latter of which earns me a nice jab in the ribs. I used to wake up very sore, although my F&P Simplus is working pretty well when combined with a Padacheek mask liner. But, perhaps like many people here I am still looking for that Holy Grail, the mask that never leaks and makes me look like George Clooney (and not Rosemary) in the morning. Sigh...
