What to do.....new machine purchase

Due to my recent loss of job and becoming self-employed, I am giving up COBRA and changing insurance coverage. As a result, I am having to return my beloved BiPap Pro 2 to the DME and am purchasing a new machine outright.

Here's my quandry...

I looked at cpap.com the other day and saw that the Respironics BiPap Pro 2 and the BiPap Auto were only about $50 or so apart in price, so I figured for that difference, I might as well spend the few extra dollars to have the features of the Auto. I went ahead and purchased the Auto for $1299 this morning and then I saw on the cpap.com site tonight that the BiPap Pro 2 is $999.

Now I am really having buyers remorse because A) Being self employed and starting a new business, $300 is $300. and B) I am fully compliant at 400 hours on the BiPap Pro 2 with an AHI around 3.

I am wondering if I should return the Auto and exchange it for the Pro2 and save $300, OR, my question to all of you; Is there any reason perhaps long term that the Auto machine might be worth the extra $300 for it's Auto feature in the future even though my current compliance and comfort with the Pro2 are very good?

Basically I am trying to substantiate keeping of the Auto and eating that $300.

The auto bipap will help you avoid another titration study if your needs change. Such a study would cost you FAR more than the $300 extra that you paid.

Cpap says they match prices if you find it lower in 7 days.

I would keep the Bi-Pap Auto even if it cost $300 more. Like Moogy said you won't need to have another titration with the autopap.

Your case is a perfect example why a Patient should buy their own machine and get the one they want outright.

Your job and insurance are here today and can be gone tomorrow. Had you purchased your machine outright you would still have it.

Most dme definitely do not want a used machine back.

NEGOTIATE!!

look up current price from cpap.com and calculate how much you/Insurance/rental has already paid them.

Subtract difference and make them an offer.
Negotiate it to your satisfactions.

Do not deal with flunkies at DME- go to boss.

look at the blower hours, those can't be reset. on the remstar auto all you do is unplug it and then plug it back in and it will show the non resettable blower hours briefly before showing the therapy hours which can be reset.
