air filter replacement Airsense 10 Autoset
Since we all have differing lengths of time we use our various disposable supplies for, I was just wondering how often you guys replace the filter on your Airsense machines. I replaced the foam filter on my old PRS1 every six months or so. I want to make sure I do it on a reasonable schedule with my Airsense. Do you wait until it looks dirty or per manufacturer's instructions, or somewhere in between?

I don't have that machine, but if I did, I would use common sense and replace according to mfg instructions unless the filter looked dirty...then change it earlier.KatyDidAgain wrote:Since we all have differing lengths of time we use our various disposable supplies for, I was just wondering how often you guys replace the filter on your Airsense machines. I'm not sure what the common sense is in this case. When I replace supplies per manufacturer's instructions, I get accused of defrauding Medicare. It can't go both ways which is why I asked how long people use their filters for. It's a pretty straight-forward question. And since you don't even have this machine, I'm not sure why you stuck your nose in it. It's a reasonable question.

Hi
I use the hypoallergenic filter and replace when it is dirty.
I purchase extra filters from cpap.com. The filters are cheap compared to shipping so buy in bulk.

ResMed says AT LEAST every six months, I live in a somewhat dusty environment so I replace about once a month or once every two months. They are a relatively inexpensive item, I order the hypoallergenic version from cpap.com, the same ones fit both the S9 and Airsense.KatyDidAgain wrote:Since we all have differing lengths of time we use our various disposable supplies for, I was just wondering how often you guys replace the filter on your Airsense machines. After you've changed them a time or two and compared them to a new one you'll get a feel for how dirty they look and how long it takes to get dirty........one of those items I don't mind replacing more often than recomended. I like clean filters

Re: air filter replacement Airsense 10 Autoset
TangledHose and Sonnyboy, thank you both very much. That is very helpful. I do live in a somewhat dusty environment because our house is fifty years old and acting its age but we are installing a whole house AprilAire filter so hopefully that won't be an issue in two weeks. My old black foam filter on the PRS1 was really hard to tell when it was dirty and I probably didn't replace it often enough. I think I'll split the difference with three months or if it is dirty before then. Thanks again.

If you can't figure out what common sense is...look in the dictionary....."sound practical judgement".KatyDidAgain wrote:I'm not sure what the common sense is in this case. And since the members on this forum have far more expertise than I on these matters, sound practical judgement is asking them to share that expertise. Thank you for your unnecessary criticism that added absolutely nothing of use to the conversation.LSAT wrote:If you can't figure out what common sense is...look in the dictionary....."sound practical judgement".KatyDidAgain wrote:I'm not sure what the common sense is in this case. Re: air filter replacement Airsense 10 Autoset
I change the filter on my AirSense 10 every month but I check the filter twice a week because of the extremely dusty environment. I find the replacement filters very affordable so I keep a couple packs of 6 on hand at all times. I have only received one package for replacement from the DME in the past year.
