Similar setup here too. The machine is in the drawer, so it would have to be lifted upward to escape the drawer. And everything gets closed up during the day, so safe from my cat (who likes to randomly puke on stuff).

Because the hose connection on the S9 is at the rear of the machine, I turned the machine around so the hose connection is facing the bed. That effectively makes the hose several inches longer, hence lessens the chance of pulling the machine off the night table. You could also tie yours down with a bungee cord.

I was surprised that there are a number of cpap nightstands on amazon.com in different styles and colors. Just search for "cpap nightstands" on amazon. The prices didn't look unreasonable.

I use a black, adjustable wireframe shelving unit from target that works great too.
