Howdy all. Haven't been here in awhile as my ASV is working well. Something weird happened this morning - when I woke up and took off my mask, I had a blackish-browish-reddish crust around my mouth, centered at the corners. The same color was on my tongue as well. This has never happened before. I wear a full face mask, so this area was under my mask, and not at the mask contact points.
I can't think of anything in my body that would make this color besides blood - could I have bitten my tongue or something?
I didn't eat anything like chocolate before bed (had potato chips & dried coconut flakes); I have some post-nasal drip right now; I have mild GERD, I use a full face mask, I have no sores in or around my mouth.
Any ideas? Anyone had this?

With GERD and the deposits, you would do well to get a referral to an ENT. Soon.

Re: Brown crust around mouth in morning, under face mask
I have been seen by a number of ENTs, including for GERD, and had an RF surgery for it, have also been on prilosec some of the time. I've had GERD for 10-15 years, and nothing like this has ever happened before. But I did include it in case it was related - any ideas on exactly how?

It's dried spit and dried post nasal drip. It's probably the color of dried crusts that come out of the nose after allergy attacks.

" . . . blackish, brownish, reddish crust" really does sound like there might be dried blood.
Since it was dried, and only small in quantity, it could be harmless, and as long as you don't
have repeat incidents, it is probably relatively harmless.
If it happens more, you might want to mention it to your doctor, just to be sure.

OP, for me, a bi-level machine greatly reduced GERD.

Can you explain why a bi-level reduces your GERD?
My tongue is whitish in morning- is this from GERD?
