Remstar Auto vs Auto M....

is size the only difference? Is there any other reason to choose the new M besides the size difference?

Yes there is. Braggin' Rights, The chance to tell the world you could pay $65, extra for a machine that might be as good as the older tried and tested unit. And yes with the smaller lighter weight "M", you can carry that large box of candy bars, along on a trip, to make up for the loss in weight. Jim

Plus, you get to listen to the noise of the motor, sort of like a white noise generator, built in (and that feature is FREE!!!)

ok, ok, now what noise? I thought these things were quiet. My ol Remstar Lx was silent till one month ago, hence the search for the perfect Cpap...

The smaller size was exactly what I was going for as I elected to pay the additional cost of the m series auto.

I am enjoying easier transport with this more compact machine as I travel a good bit! I also appreciate the smaller footprint on my nightstand!
And, as far as noise, mine is whisper quiet! However, I do remember reading on this site that some of the m series autos seemed to have a noise issue. Guess I was lucky!

Bottom line.......
If size is not a specific issue for you, then I certainly can see saving the extra money like GoofyUT and Goofproof point out. But for those of us that might be seeking a compact size option, it is great to have a choice!

well, how much smaller is it? And if there is a noise issue, what would Cpap.com do about it? Do I have to suffer from a noisey machine, return it and wait for repair?

I really want to get a new machine, and not have problems. My old remstar lx was not a big deal to carry with the passover humidifier and nasal pillows in the bag with it.

Is the Remstar auto with cflex about the same size as the old LX?

I had a Remstar +M for a few months. I also travel for a living on LOTS of airlines to say the least. It was fine. I only use it WITH a humdifier so my comments are as follows. The ACTUAL square inch difference in size between it and the previous torchbearer (the REMstar Auto with Cflex) is actually quite minimal. It is all in the "profile" of it's size. One is more "bricklike" and the other a flatter but wider rectangle. While there is some weight difference, in the "real world" once you've loaded them into their bags for travel, the difference on one's shoulder, as well as actual width is also quite minimal. About the ONLY thing they worked out on the M series is that with the Humidifier docked, it just knows when the humidifier should go on. On the other machine it sometimes seems to forget you've set it for humidifier if you put it on and then don't start the machine for a while. It's not a biggie to be sure. The REMstar auto with Cflex of course comes with the memory card used for the optional Encore software and reader purchased separately in case you want to monitor your use and progress with the machine. Noise wise they are very close, with the previous model perhaps a tad quieter. It is, IMHO a bit more of a "commercial" build intended and used more often by Sleep Study Labs and such. Very respected in that regard to say the least. This is not to say you couldn't use the M series for such, just that the other is the defacto standard from all I've seen. When coming to that same decision I too elected to go with the tried and true REMstar Auto with Cflex instead of finalizing my machine with a M series model.

I don't see having any problems bringing this on the planes with me. It is still a very similar size to the previous M I had in the bag. The REMstar Auto with Cflex's bag also easily contains the hose and mask and more without expanding at all. If you want anything other than the basic machine/humidifier unit in the bag you have to expand the girth considerably, and this is why I say when all is said and done they are VERY close as a carry package. I'm happy....that's all I can say......

The Remstar Auto with humidifier is: 5 1/2" high, 6 3/4" wide, and 12" front to back. Don't have any info on the LX. Hope this helps.
