Humidifier Problem on PR System One REMStar 60
Humidifier Problem on PR System One REMStar 60
After three years, my humidifier seems to stop working during the night every night. I can see it is working when I turn on the warm up mode prior to bedtime and the plate heats up but every night I wake up with dry nasal passages and the plate is cold. This is my third winter and before now, I've always had to adjust the heated hose for rainout (easy to do) and my humidifier used ample water but now very little. I've tried turning the humidity to the maximum setting and the heated hose to the lowest but it doesn't make any difference.
CPAP is telling me to replace the humidifier.
I also have found a related problem which I have confirmed is not the problem...

Any other thoughts?
Thanks all in advance for any input!

that could very well be the porblem a burnt connector. that could make it work sometime and quit working when it get hot.
That thread is a good one for how to check and fix it .

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

how about the pins out of the blower unit ... where the humidifier connects ... I have seen one pin pushed back into the connector.

Yes I checked thanks and the pins look fine as far as I can tell.
Re: Humidifier Problem on PR System One REMStar 60
My humidifier quit at around three years. It's somethin internal as a new humidifier didn't solve the problem. I don't have time to fight with Crapria over it.

Re: Humidifier Problem on PR System One REMStar 60
So last night I turned off the System One Humidification which puts my machine into Classic (manual) mode. I set the Humidification to C3 and everything seemed to work! No dryness and much more water was consumed from the tank!
By the way, I don't see a way to control the heated tube temperature with the Classic setting. Does anyone know?
So I guess that confirms that my humidifier is ok?
So what else could be wrong. Are there sensors in the heated tube that could be bad?
At least I got my machine working again.
Thanks!

Could be the heated hose. Do you have a spare heated hose?dizzyhead wrote:Are there sensors in the heated tube that could be bad?
I think one of the forum members says there is a way but I haven't tried it. Let me dig out my 760 machine (using the S9 at the moment) and let me see if I can figure out what he says can be done...will report back.dizzyhead wrote:I don't see a way to control the heated tube temperature with the Classic setting. Thanks Pugsy!
No I don't have a spare hose but mine probably should be replaced anyway. Problem is that if I order a new humidifier, a new hose is included but I'm far from convinced the problem is with the humidifier and I don't want to order a new hose on its own if it turns out I need a new humidifier.
I think I read elsewhere that the System One sensor is in the hose itself? Which could explain why the problem could be with the hose.
Thanks for checking on the temperature setting in Classic mode. I read my manual but it wasn't obvious to me.

Re: Humidifier Problem on PR System One REMStar 60
Report on experiment with my 760 machine and heated hose.
I cannot get my machine to do Classic mode and give me hose air temperature control separately.
I turned off the "new system one humidification" to get me classic mode (and it wouldn't do it with the heated hose on) but once I plugged the heated hose in it wouldn't let me have a temperature setting.
I tried all sorts of configurations and various steps to fool the machine but it just wouldn't let me do it. It appears to hold only for a second but once I exit out it defaults to taking me out of Classic mode.
Now I can turn off the heated hose entirely and stay in Classic mode but I can't use Classic mode and the air in the hose temperature at the same time.
I do have a spare PR S1 heated hose...BTW the heated hose can be ordered separately and use the insurance replacement allowance for just the heated hose...There should be no reason to have to buy anything else with it and if your supplier is telling you differently then they are telling you an untruth.
But you can have the spare that I have...it was donated and while out of package it was unused. Someone sent me multiples and I have one left. It's yours if you want it. Just PM me your name and address so I know where to send it.
If you can repay postage costs I would appreciate it but if you can't that's okay too.

Ooops, I just realized you are in Canada and my comment about hose replacement was geared more to US insurance.
I understand in Canada it is different.
My offer still stands for the hose though..it will just cost a little more to send it to Canada but I will be happy to do it.

On my DS760 I am in classic mode with humidity at 2 and the hose at 4. It uses nearly the entire container each night.

I can't get "C" for Classic mode to hold..Sleeprider wrote:On my DS760 I am in classic mode with humidity at 2 and the hose at 4. It uses nearly the entire container each night.
Can you tell me exactly your steps if you are seeing the "C" and have both humidity and hose temps available.
I have tried every which way to get the "C" to hold and I can't get it done.
Anytime I have hose temp available I lose the "C".

Wow Pugsy, that is a very kind offer! I can PM you my address and once you know the shipping cost, I can either mail you a check or do an e-mail bank transfer. A check might be the best way. If you happen to have a Paypal account, I could also do it that way.
Although I couldn't find a way to adjust my tube temperature in Classic mode, I'm pretty sure it was on because otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have had rain out in my mask.
Thanks for all of your help!

Re: Humidifier Problem on PR System One REMStar 60
Spoke with Pugsy off the side here. My setup would seem to be System One with heated tube. I only see the System One control with the heated tube setting OFF. That option disappears if the heated tube is ON.
I use Heated tube ON, Humidity at 2 and heated tube at 4. This nearly drains the water container each night and is very comfortable. What puzzles me is that a number of members here say they are not getting enough humidity with the heated hose setup. I don't see how that could happen with a properly operating system. Note that with the heated hose ON, you won't see a control for System One Humidification. If you do see that, you're not using the heated hose.
My previous system was a M-Series auto which provided classic heated humidification, and I had a Sleepzone heated hose on it. That was pretty good, and the new setup is just about its equal.
I suppose I could attach the Sleepzone hose to the 60 series and go into classic humidification with a heated hose, but I don't know why I would.
