ResMed HumidAire® Heated Humidifier (any opinions)

Post by meister » Mon Feb 21, 2005 4:32 pm

My ResMed 2i integrated humidifier is too wimpy and doesn't put out
enough warm moisture for me. I was thinking of switching to this
other ResMed style. Any users who would care to share an opinion? Thanks!

Are you thinking of switching to the stand alone ResMed-Heated-Humidifier?

I have seen a number of posts stating that same fact. Not sure about the external one tho.

I agree, the 2i is too wimpy. I now use the Resmed Humidaire and it is good. I have it cranked up too the max and the warmth is great plus I don't need to refill during the night.

I am a ResMed Humidaire user. The only thing I find peculiar is that on mine it seems like any setting below "5" [scale from 1-8] it will not heat the water at all because when I dump it out in the morning its cold. Settings above that will have the water nice and warm, though. I never have any rainout no matter how high I turn the thing so that's a good aspect of it, and it also is relatively easy to keep clean. I use tap water in mine and there's never any mineral buildup anywhere. One thing to watch out for with the unit is not to use a UPS like you would use for a home comptuer because if you plug it into an AC source that comes from an inverter it will blow a fuse inside the unit.

That's strange becuase I have mind plugged inyo a power surge strip and haven't had a problem. I use distilled water in mind because if I use tap water its leaves a residue after a few nights. I have never used any other setting except the max (8) and it produces very little if any rainout.

I've ran mine several times with my battery backup with pure sine wave inverter. No problems. It can't be used with a modified sine wave inverter or its toast.

Yes the humidifier is a bit wimpy but if it had more guts it would run out of water in a few hours.

Cheers,

Chris
