Post-Op 2nd AFib Ablation

Post by fdw » Thu Feb 12, 2015 9:12 am

It's been a week (Feb 6) since my 2nd AFib ablation.....everything went great. The hospital is NO where to sleep....in fact the night I had to stay I got 0 minutes 0 hours of sleep.

Since I've been home it's been a slow recovery getting good sleep. As of the last few nights I've been waking every 60-75 minutes,......any suggestions or encouragement. I am lying around the house most of the day (not really sleeping) since getting home. Is simply sleep hygiene, medications or what.

Medication list
Carafate 4/day.......NEW 1-3 months
Nexium 40mg.........NEW 1-3 months
Colchicine 0.6mg....NEW 7 days
Sotalol
Quinapril
Eplerenone
Alprazolam 0.5mg at bedtime.

Sleepyhead is reporting nearly ALL arenas as CA.

Heres my latest SH graph .....I know the AHI looks good.....But the wake ups is whats bothering me.

I'd suggest ignoring readings that low.

Are you just wondering or are you worried and wanting total annihilation?

If I was guessing as to cause...I would lean towards a post arousal CA especially the one (or couple as there may be more than one) that appears to coincide with the big leak spike. I would be shrugging my shoulders and moving on because there's not a thing we can do about them and they aren't anywhere near numerous enough to need anything be done about them anyway.

Don't know how long the recuperation is for the ablation, but if you're just lying around the house, you might be napping more than you realize, not getting any exercise, and need to get out and about. If I don't see the big picture, I apologize. You might check with your doctor about the new medications.

Not worried....just wondering.

Thought maybe someone could see something in the resporitory or other graphs that stood out, didn't want to say that up front (kinda like pointing a finger at something that is or isn't there).

Anyways something is waking me up every couple of hours.....just asking.

Perhaps...

It just takes your body awhile to adjust to "normal sinus rhythm..."

I am sorry but if we can't even determine if you were asleep or not there is no way to identify what may have caused the awakening from the level of detail available in these reports.
Looks like you had an awakening right before 1:00AM and there weren't any events anywhere near that time.
I know you are looking for something to "fix" so that you can get better sleep quality but I don't think you are going to be able to find anything on these reports other than some "maybes".

I scheduled an appointment with a Sleep Doctor for APRIL, but I think I'll just be throwing MY money down the drain. I think my problems are more physicial because of all the heart procedures I've had since July of last year. I have really worked on sleep hygiene, but sometime if I wake up and go to the bathroom my mine immediately shifts to thinking about getting back to sleep or will I be able to get back to sleep. Weird I know!

It's not weird - that's pretty normal. If you start worrying about whether you can fall back to sleep, you are on the road to insomnia. If you find yourself worrying, I would suggest you grab a book and read until you're ready to fall back to sleep (or watch TV until you're ready to fall back to sleep). It doesn't do you any good to lie in bed and worry about falling back to sleep.
