Couple questions from a newbie with Airsense 10

Post by Jangles » Mon Feb 02, 2015 11:16 pm

Great forum and info here. First day tinkering with my Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset.

Had a few questions:

1) If the display is on bright and you turn the room light off, is the display supposed to dim itself? My display stays bright even if the lights are turned off. However if I hit the Home button when room is dark, the display comes on dim and will go to bright if the light is turned on. Instruction booklet simply says it will adjust to the lighting.

2) Can I use the heated hose if I am not using the humidifier? (trying my first night without humidifier...)

Thanks!

you should turn the humidity setting off if you're not putting water in there...

I don't know about the lighting, someone else will chime in on that one

welcome to the club!

The light on mine goes out after just maybe 30 seconds or so. If I roll over in the middle of the night and HAVE TO know my where my pressure is and I press the dial to check, the display is just bright enough to see and then goes out.

Not sure if it's a setting somewhere on length of time it stays on.

If you hit 'Home' button when the room light is on and display comes on at full brightness, does the display go dim after a few seconds when you then turn the room light off?

Not sure about the airsense but the aircurve you can use the heated hose separate from the humidifier. In manual mode you have a separate setting for humidifier and house temp

Not sure I've tested that one - my room light switch is across the room from my bed and machine so the light usually goes out before I get back settled into bed.

I wonder if ResMed customer service might be able to answer if you call or email them to find out exactly what they intended it to do? For all I know, mine could be broken and yours could be working just fine. If it's to the point where yours is keeping you awake though, that's a problem that you deserve to have remedied as I agree the display at full brightness would be a bit much in the dark.

They were pretty good about emailing back when I was considering a new MAD instead of CPAP.

When I hit mine at night with the lights off it goes to bright for about 10 seconds, the dim for a few seconds then dark, I'm sure it's a setting the clinical settings, if you push the dial in and hold the home button for about 5 seconds it will un-hide all those settings.

2) Can I use the heated hose if I am not using the humidifier? (trying my first night without humidifier...) Yes, I have one, works really well

Thanks!

My light goes off by itself in like 10 seconds. Not sure if there is a setting on yours that needs changed - you can download the S10 manual to see if it in there?

EDIT: Called Resmed and it is working as designed.

If the display comes on at full brightness, it will stay that way until it times out or therapy is started regardless of lighting changes in the room. If the display comes on at the dim setting (dark room), it will go to bright if the room gets brighter. The idea being that you intend to start therapy if you turn the display on.

END EDIT
______
Thanks for all the replies! I should add that this light thing is NOT when starting or using therapy.

It is only when you hit HOME on the unit in a fully lit room. Display comes on full brightness, then when turning off lights (not using therapy), the display stays fully lit, does not dim. If therapy is started, it will dim and go off. Just figure it should dim when lights go out and not stay on like a beacon.

Really glad to hear you got it sorted out. Interesting information you received too. This is why ResMed pays product engineers for these things - I'd never think of stuff like that in a million years.
