Never did use the Crutch, started out day one at 14.5 cm, never looked back, I wanted my treatment to be the best it could from the start. I had already had enough damage from sleep apnea, it was time to heal. I learned to ride my bike without training wheels or a helmet, later I even rode in the back of a pick-up truck. Jim

I've recently turned it on. My pressure range is set to 12 to 15, so I set the ramp pressure to 12 and the ramp time to 30 minutes. The Resmed doesn't keep score until after the ramp period. So now I can get to sleep (or close to it) before the S9 claims I've had a CA while I was still awake.

That's because treatment doesn't really start until the treatment pressure is allowed. JimSGearhart wrote:I've recently turned it on. Never used the ramp. It didn't make sense to me. With my nasal mask, I would have to mouth breathe until the pressure came up.
I never saw an advantage to ramp. To me, the pressure is comforting and tells my body it's time to sleep.
Have you been keeping a tally? It seems like the rampers are in the minority.

what is this "ramp" thing you speak of?RobertS975 wrote:I have shortened the ramp to five minutes a long time ago, and my question is how many of you have the ramp feature off altogether?
a lot of people view the ramp as sort of 'training wheels' ... it seems yourself included... no reason not to take them off

I've only been using APAP for three months. I used the full ramp for the first month, then gradually lowered it until now I don't use it at all.

I'm trying to picture "training wheels" on a Harley (or Goldwing or whatever).palerider wrote:what is this "ramp" thing you speak of?RobertS975 wrote:I have shortened the ramp to five minutes a long time ago, and my question is how many of you have the ramp feature off altogether?

DME set my apap up using the ramp. Turned it off after feeling like I wasn't getting enough air for some time after going to bed. There's still a ramp, only it takes a matter of maybe 15 seconds rather than 30 or 45 minutes *smile*. I've watched the LCD display many times as the pressure initially comes up.

after starting on a respironics, and then getting a resmed, then briefly back to a new respironics, and back to another resmed, I decided I like that 'soft start' methods the resmeds have.RogerSC wrote:here's still a ramp, only it takes a matter of maybe 15 seconds .

Another "off", last fall, after 5 minutes for over 4 years.

Re: Do Many of You Have the Ramp Feature Turned Off?
I'm new so I'd ne'er heard of ramping until yesterday. I don't think I'm going to start. I'd rather have the right pressure from the beginning.

Re: Do Many of You Have the Ramp Feature Turned Off?
Well, I really wasn't visualizing the "trikes" when I wrote that. Just "training wheels" on a two-wheel motorcycle.palerider wrote:you've never seen training wheels on a 'wing?Wulfman... wrote:I'm trying to picture "training wheels" on a Harley (or Goldwing or whatever).
But, then there's the Can-Am, the Polaris Slingshot (coming out this year).......and then there's the Boss Hoss.
