Dizzy

I've been back on my APAP for 2 months now and I find that I'm dizzy everyday (of course I suffer anxiety as well). Is this a common problem with being on APAP? My AHI have been 3 or lower every night. Also, is it possible for APAP to increase your blood pressure? Thanks everyone.

It's far more likely that Cpap has decreased your BP, possibly more than was necessary, which is why you feel dizzy (if you do early in the a.m. when first getting up, standing from sitting, etc.). I've never heard of someone's BP going up on Cpap.

Thanks for the reply Julie. I only wish my BP was low it's usually high from my checks. I forgot to mention that I do have sinus issues and at least I'm half way plug every night before going to bed so I have to do sinus flushes.

Are you monitoring your therapy with software?

Lots of things could affect or cause "dizziness".......like, inner ear issues, earwax buildup, pressures going too high......off the top of my head.

but, are you checking it when you're dizzy?

friend of mine was dizzy earlier in the week, he'd been put on new bp meds.

his bp was around 103/53... they since scaled back the meds.

My BP is around 148/93 on average and sometime higher so I don't think it's my BP. Maybe it's my inner ear and congestion problems.

Lately I hear a very faint spring peeper. It comes and goes. Must be the wax in my ears. I have a lot of that. Also I was dizzy when first using APAP. It went away. Could be all that new air coming in?

Yes I know the popping your referring to. I'm just paranoid and I'm trying to blame my dizziness on my APAP but stopping it not an option. Maybe between congestion and anxiety may be the cause of all my worries

which says to me that you're NOT checking your bp when dizzy....

No I have been checking it when dizzy and it hovers around 148/90 and as high as 175/95 (one time)...

Your body makes a lot of changes to adapt to apnea. I think that sometimes, when you get CPAP and fix your apnea, your body is "off balance" until it readjusts.

Sometimes CPAP will "wash out" CO2 from your blood, and that may make you a little light headed like when you hyperventilate. However, I would expect this to go away within a few minutes of unmasking.

Watch out for "CPAP blindness." CPAPers and doctors have a tendency to blame everything on apnea/CPAP and may miss unrelated medical problems. We apneacs suffer from the same medical problems that normal people do.

Hi phx1hab,

Not that I am aware of. Check with your doctor if you continue to experience dizziness as that is nothing to mess around with.

I take Diovan for BP and Zoloft for anxiety...
