For power failure, I use something similar to this alarm: Power Failure Alarm And Safety Light LED, by RELIANCE CONTROLS (~$15)

It's not very loud and my hearing is not good, so I rely on my wife to hear it. I bought another from a dealer in Hong Kong, but it was painfully loud. Just like having a fire engine in my bedroom.

Now that I'm using nasal interfaces with my tape. This is probably a good idea as is maybe an UPS. I don't know if I need it, but all it takes is one time being wrong! An easy preventative measure if not or until going the UPS route. Thanks for mentioning it!
