Suggestion for side sleeper

Hi,

So Ive been on CPAP for a few weeks. Started out great with a Swift FX, but lately it's just not comfortable anymore. Lot's of leaks with different sizes, not sure why, and I just take it off after an hour. So Im looking at the P10 because it has so many great reviews. Is it good for a side sleeper? I seem to really dig my head into my pillow with my hands underneath and it dislodges the Swift FX. Thanks!

Try a cpap pillow. They are great. Have cut out on the sides where your mask and hose can fit and it doesnt move the mask

I hope so as I'm getiing ready to try it as well. I did just trial the Wisp and Eson nasal masks. They were as good in the first few days for side sleeping as it took me months to get my ffm. The Eson really worked well. I'm sure the Wisp would as well. I was just between sizes with it. I know they're not pillows but thought I'd mention it as the Wisp is about as close as you can get. Sorry to hear that about the Swift. I was looking forward to trying the Nano and FX if the P10 isn't for me.

A lot of people are very happy with the P10 in many sleeping situations. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

My problem with the Swift FX even with a swivel hose is that the hose directly connects to the cushion and pulls on the cushion. The P10 has a frame that the cushion fits in. I sleep with one arm under a regular soft pillow half stomach/half side. With my P10 I might move it once at night but move it back easily and always have minimal leaks.

Love the P10 nose pillow and vent, and the light weight, but the headgear leaves me cold. If it doesn't totally slip off, it readjusts itself overnight.

Hoping for a P10 nose pillow/vent on a Swift FX-style (or at the very least, adjustable style) headgear...and they can throw in a swivel joint at the hose/nose pillow junction as well. Miss that on the P10, too.

Sounds nice! I'm all for a quick disconnect on the secondary hose as well. Really nice on the Wisp.

Okydoky, I find that it pulls also. I think I've gotten used to it (at least Im able to fall asleep). Ive had to learn to get used to the pushing on the upper lip, it wasnt easy!

Roger, do you have to run the P10 headgear under hot water or put it in the dryer every so often? Ive been reading about how it stretches out over time.

I hang the hose with the Swift FX, and that avoids a lot of the issues of pulling on the hose. It also turns the air vent angle so it doesn't blow on me. I got tired of the FX though, because I hated that wet nose feeling from my breath condensing in the pillows.

But I've been using the Wisp for several months now and I really like it, except that if I hang that hose, the vents blow right on me. So now the part near the machine is in the hanger just to take up the extra length and prevent rain out (which I've never had except in nasal pillows), but the length near me is free and sometimes if I turn I have to wake enough to move it. I have the short hose covered, but I hate stuff when it's on my neck, so I have to move it out of the way.

The headgear on the wisp is not the best, but overall it's the best of both worlds for me--light and easy on my face, no nasal pillow condensation.

If you are having trouble with headgear sliding around, try this: Sew a piece of Velcro (the scratchy, hook side) on the inside of the headgear strap, facing your hair. That will give the headgear just enough "grip" to stop slipping.

Yes, it stretches out over time, and washing in warm water and air drying does restore much of the former tension and elasticity. This doesn't bring it back to where it started, but it really does help. I just started using a new P10, and noticed how different the new one is from the one that I've washed several times.

Also noticed the other day that you can get just the P10 headgear for $25. Seems like a lot for a fabric covered rubber band (albeit "high-tech" *smile*), but that's cheaper than a whole new mask if you just need the headgear.

I just experienced the wet nose feeling, I thought I was having a bloody nose in the middle of the night, but realized it was condensation. A new experience with cpap. Sigh.
