Lansinoh Users: To Use Pillows Where Do You Apply It?
Lansinoh Users: To Use Pillows Where Do You Apply It?
Using a cotton swab I've been applying it on the outer rim of the nostrils and a bit inside, maybe 1/16 to 1/8 inch. After a week my nose is tender but no raw spots. My concern is possibly inhaling lanolin. I don't want to get it into my lungs.

Many P10 users are finding that using a larger pillow size stops movement and chafing. You might want to try it for a night if you have them.

A little goes a long way, I just use enough to barely coat a thin layer inside and around the entrance. I haven't noticed any ill effects from it. I think unless your globbing it in, which you wouldn't do, you're okay, just do a very thin layer. I wash my hands and use my pinky finger that way I can feel how much is going on, I wouldn't use a qtip.

I use the size L already. I am trying to avoid sores and raw skin. If Lansinoh helps with leaks too, great!englandsf wrote:Many P10 users are finding that using a larger pillow size stops movement and chafing. You might want to try it for a night if you have them.

I don't recall anyone ever claiming that with any backing data.jaycee2 wrote: If Lansinoh helps with leaks too, great!
generally, when the face/silicone interface is slippery, leaks are worse.

I prefer the pinky over a Q-tip, less waste, and no excess to be inhaled.
Any left on the finger can be applied to lips, heels, or elbows, shoot, that stuff is amazing!

I'll second our froggie, a little goes a LONG way. A tiny dab on a finger tip, rub around the outer surface of the nostrils and just inside the nares. Ideally it should feel just a bit tacky, NOT slippery, as it will liquify with your body heat on contact with the nasal pillow. Also, consider changing your cleaning regimen; I've found that my facial cleanser, even when rinsed thoroughly, was interacting with the soap I was using on the pillows...chunkyfrog wrote:I prefer the pinky over a Q-tip, less waste, and no excess to be inhaled.

yeah, when I was getting used to the p10, I'd use MAYBE a bb sized bit, and just smear it all over, around, in, near, my nostrils... just inside the opening, because the skin wasn't bothered any further up. and like the gentle ladies said, a fingertip worked best for getting a thin even layer.RicaLynn wrote:I'll second our froggie, a little goes a LONG way.chunkyfrog wrote:I prefer the pinky over a Q-tip, less waste, and no excess to be inhaled.

When is the best time to apply it? Before using the cpap for the night or after?

I apply right before inserting the pillows for the the night. If you feel the need to apply at other times I don't see how it would hurt. But definitely before putting the pillows on, the purpose of using it to avoid irritation.
