Newbie: Looking For Airfit P10-Hints to Make This Work

Thanks for the posts. I tried the P10 for the full night and managed to keep it on. There was some pinching of the cartilage between the nostrils. Also the pillows seemed to push the nostrils up as well as enlarge them. I wore the headgear over a thin fleece cap (it's cold here) and it worked fine. I am going to review the videos on the Airfit P10 to see if there are more hints there.

If the P10 is pushing the nostrils up enough to enlarge them, you don't have the strap(s) positioned right. The pillows do not need to be tight, and that may give you more leaks. I also find that using a little Lansinoh really helps with getting the seal correct. Also, have you tried the different sizes? I found that although I needed a medium with other pillows, the large works much better with the P10.

Thanks for the tips on the straps. I reviewed the Resmed videos on this mask and learned how to loosen the straps. The nostrils were much happier but the leaks were worse. Mr. Grouchy Angry Red face appeared on the LCD screen. So more tweaking tonight.

I have the Lansinoh in a tube. Do I put a light coating in the nostrils or on the pillows themselves?

my nose didn't take kindly to the piliaro q, or the p10, but the p10 was much better than the q... but it took a couple weeks, at first, I'd wear the p10 part of the night then switch back to my FFM, and worked up to the p10 all the time.

Haha, I thought of this approach of switching masks at night just today. P10 puts too much pressure on my nose that feels not too well after a 3-4 hours. It is not even my nostril that suffer, but the nose itself protests against the intrusion. Some bleeding is guaranteed. Will try to increase humidity a bit.

I'd use about a bb sized amount of the lanolin on my delicate lil nose, smeared all over and around, a tiny bit goes a long way.

Bought lanolin today - would it help for the issue above? Or is it just for sore nostrils?

I'd stick with the larger pillows. Are you wearing the two straps wide apart - one over the front of you head and one down by your neck? That's the minimum pressure setting. Also try positioning the pillows towards the tip of your nose if you can.

Yes, the large size seals better, and, yes, wearing them apart, it is my cheeks with my upper that may puff and drive the mask into my nose. Maybe i should pursue rhinoplasty afterall...

I imagine so, given that it's sold for the dry cracked nipples women get after those leeches, er, I mean, darlings have been chewing on 'em all day.

I never let my nose get to that point while getting used to the mask, so I can't say for sure.

I looked on the chart for the mask and the leak rate is one under what the chart indicates for the pressure. Maybe I should just be happy with that but I'm not because I know I'm losing therapy air.

OT: Plus I have a cold and woke myself up sneezing into the pillows. Eeeew.

make sure there aren't any holes anywhere else in the tubes... plug up the p10 holes and check the long and short hose.

any significant leaks in the p10 can only be where the pillows touch the nostrils, unless you don't have the pillows clipped in right... but you should notice a lot of air coming from somewhere besides that gentle waft from the vent.

Wow, such great suggestions! I read on another thread about a leak problem and someone suggested draping the tubing over the headboard. I had stopped doing this because it made the nasal mask leak more. But with the nasal pillows it really helped. It seems to angle the pillows better. The leak rate went from 36L/min to 9L/min. Granted this is only from one night but it seems hopeful.
