Encore Pro Error
Encore Pro Error
When trying to view reports, I get continual "cannot instantiate control" messages. When I finally get through the error messages, I get the table of daily stats but no graphs. Any suggestions?
The only question I can think of at this point to ask is: "What version of Encore Pro are you running?" I believe it should be at least 1.5i. If that IS the version you have, could you provide some more information about where/when you encounter that message.

think it may mean corrupt database table because there was no prior records.
1. Make sure after installing the software you fill in the required fields (phony sleep lab and Dr. Frankenstein) Then create a Patient profile for yourself, use a name you want to show on your reports because it will show up there. (if it doesn't give you Patient ID #1 then delete any profiles that may exist).
2. After creating the Patient Profile, double click on the Profile you just created to select it.
3. Insert the SmartCard in the reader.
4. Use the SmartCard Utilities to Erase and Setup the SmartCard for your profile.
I always program my machine via the LCD display, never via the SmartCard, but I guess it can work that way.
Also when you read the card, you Select your Profile FIRST, insert the Card and select Download from Reader. It may warn you if the Patient profile and the card setup don't match, just say yes and ignore the error. Select "Detailed" radio button when creating the report. You can save the reports to PDF files instead of printing if you want.
There is also some Donoterasecard.reg files in the Program File directory you can load where it doesn't erase the data on the card until you do it manually.

Additional Information
Hi,
I am using Encore Pro version 1.6.22.
I did set up my profile before downloading.
I am hesitant to erase data and start over because of compliance reporting requirements to DME.
I encounter the error messages during download. It appears that each set of graph data triggers the error message.
I thought maybe it would clear up with two nights of data to work with. No such luck. It does the same thing.

Update
Hi,
I tried bringing up the profile before connecting the reader and putting the card in. I, also, entered phony names in the provider, etc., fields. No luck! Same problem.
In addition to the "Can't instantiate control" I get a "Control is not registered" statement with the error message.

What you're battling with is the program that makes the graphs being called a control, and that it doesn't like something in its environment. Could be that the main graph control (program) didn't install correctly, or has a dependency on another control (program) that did not install correctly, and thus didn't get registered properly.
You should keep on uploading your card data, that sounds like it's working ok. Go ahead and install MyEncore, you can get some different graphs from that, and some further confirmation that the data from the card is getting into the database.
I'd recommend first bringing your machine current on maintenance by going through the WindowsUpdate process with Microsoft.
If that doesn't clear it up, do you have access to a second computer that you could install EncorePro on? If so, it's possible to export the patient data from the current computer and take it to the new one and see if the graphing problem appears there as well. Ultimately, as long as your data is preserved, you might end up with a re-install on the current computer.

Update
My laptop computer is completely updated via Windows XP update service.
Myencore will not run either. I have just put it on hold for now.
I will try enstalling Encore Pro on my desktop. That will be an interesting experiment.
I have got Encore Pro set up to not erase data so I should not have any problems on that front.
Thanks for the great ideas!

Update
Okay, I installed it on my desktop and went by the manual installation process instead of the leaflet included in my Encore Pro package from cpap.com. It worked! No problem. Beautiful reports.
I think I will uninstall it on my laptop and try doing it again just like I did on the desktop.
Thanks to everyone for your help!
