Hybrid mask - cannot breathe out - HELP!
Hybrid mask - cannot breathe out - HELP!
I just bought the Hybrid mask and was testing it. It felt like there were no leaks, but when I inhaled thru the nasal pillows and tried to exhale, it seemed like there was nowhere for the air to go, and it was very hard to exhale.
Also, "mask fit" on the machine then went to "very poor."
I have previously used the Swift nasal pillows with no problem. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
I have the Resmed S8 Vantage, and set the mask for Mir Full and then tried it on Standard.
Thanks.

Lenny was this 'test' with the CPAP machine on or off? Was the mask connected to the hose, or not?It felt like there were no leaks, but when I inhaled thru the nasal pillows and tried to exhale, it seemed like there was nowhere for the air to go, and it was very hard to exhale.
If the mask was not connected to the xPAP machine in can be a bit difficult to exhale out through the 'safety' holes. However, its not real difficult.

Hello,
I haven't ordered the Hybrid mask yet but am considering it, and I have a similar question about it:
What happens when you open your mouth while wearing the Hybrid -- do you get a rush of air OUT of your mouth (like when just using a nasal pillow system alone, such as Nasal Aire II or Swift)? Or does it really work to keep the pressure, so that you can alternately breathe through your nose and mouth throughout the night?
Angela
P.S. I'm sorry I can't help with your problem, but I wish you luck!

Yes. The pressure is equalized for nose and mouth - no air rushing out. Just like any full face mask I would assume. The Hybrid, with chin flap, does tend to make me keep my mouth closed most of the time which I prefer but when I do need, or choose, to mouth breath I notice no difference.AMinNJ wrote:What happens when you open your mouth while wearing the Hybrid -- do you get a rush of air OUT of your mouth (like when just using a nasal pillow system alone, such as Nasal Aire II or Swift)? Good LuckAMinNJ wrote: Sounds like the Hybrid might work for me, I'm going to order it right now.
Review some of the fit comments on the forum, particularly by women. There have been quite a few differences between folk's ability to make it fit their faces.
It works fine for me with no modifications.
