Comfort LEAK 2 - How much leakage is acceptable??

Post by Hoseboy » Tue Jul 25, 2006 10:52 pm

Hi all. Thanks for checkin out the post. I'm having some trouble getting my comfortlite 2 to seal properly. everytime i adjust the nasal pillows, i get a small hiss. its nothing major, but i'm just afraid that any leak is a bad leak. i've tried a number of things i've seen on the forums, and none seem to work. i always get a small leak. unfortunately i only have a goodknight 420g machine so i dont know what my leakage numbers are. it might not be anything to worry about. i think tonight i'll just try my luck and let it leak and just look out for anything major.

thanks

only leaks you need to worry about are those between the cushion and your skin or those into your eyes.

Leak coming out the exhaust ports are intentional on the mask are there to wash out the Co2 you breathe out or exhale. The hissing comes from those exhaust ports and are normal.

I have read several times on this board that leaks into the eye are not good - BUT I haven't seen anything that says why! My Comfort Gel mask has been leaking into my eyes and driving me crazy - is it doing some irreparable damage that I'm not aware of?

Thanks,
Cindy

Basicly speaking, you don't want the air leak to cause discomfort to you. If it blows in your eye enough to disturb you it's too much. If you wake up with your eyelids dired together it's too much. Even a tiny leak is too much if it bothers you. It has to be a pretty BIG leak to upset the machine and your treatment. My rule of thumb is if I hear the machine change tone with inhale/exhale then the machine knows I'm there and it probably isn't overwhelmed by a leak.
