Air hunger?
Air hunger
I am new to using my vpap for complex apnea. I have the full face mask and a nasal mask
During the day I have found myself unable to grab a deep filling breath- air hunger- does anyone know if the mask type could lead to this feeling?
Does anyone have similar experiences?

Re: Air hunger?
Are you talking about using you mask during the day? Or are you having breathing problems during the day when you are not using your machine?

If you are feeling short of breath, you need to see a doctor--right away.

During the day with no mask- and I think I'll call the Dr
Re: Air hunger?
This would have no relationship with your Cpap usage. You should see a Doctor as this is serious today. If you can't see your Dr, Urgent care at a minimum.b.rosenberg.mednax wrote:During the day with no mask- and I think I'll call the Dr

Sometimes running too dry at night can cause some breathlessness, especially in allergy season.
But, please. ask your doctor...

Re: Air hunger?
I had really bad air hunger, mine was due to thyroid issues but it could be many things, I would definitely get it checked out.

Re: Air hunger?
Agree on getting checked out. I used to feel that air hunger frequently both night and day. I ended up on steroids for some lung issues unrelated to my sleep apnea. It would be a good idea if the docs could figure out if you have something else that needs addressed. Took a while for my problem to become apparent, so if they don't find a reason yet the symptoms continue, do communicate that to your doctor in case some repeat testing is in order.
