Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
I need to reduce the pressure on my Remstar Plus C-Flex. I found a site that showed how to do it for a ton of cpap's but not my model. The reason I need to change is when my allergies are bad I need to change from a nasal pillow to a face mask.
Thanks, Matt

your throat needs the same pressure whether it's full faced or nasal.

Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
What PR means is that you don't need to adjust the pressure to suit the mask. You may, however, need to change the mask setting (I don't have a Respironics, I have a ResMed, and it has a setting to adapt to the mask type)

You can obtain the clinical manual from the Apnea Board website -- use the link in my signature box below.

Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
My mask doesn't have adjustable settings, my specialist advised me at my last appointment to decrease the pressure two psi when I use it with the nasal pillow and up two psi when I use the mask. He had showed me how to do it on a cpap in the office however I couldn't get it to work when I got home. I ordered the manual on the site so I should be good to go. The current psi is just to strong when I use the nasal pillow but fine when I use a mask. I prefer the nasal pillow due to not being able to find a mask that works well without excessive leaking especially around the eyes. I've tried on a bunch of masks took two different ones home. They seem great in the office but at home in bed not so good. Sleeping on my side doesn't help matters, I have never been able to sleep on my back.RicaLynn wrote:What PR means is that you don't need to adjust the pressure to suit the mask. Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
Respironics do not have mask settings like Resmed but they have resistance settings. These settings correlate to Respironic masks but it is more difficult to determine for ResMed masks. If your tech told you to change a number with different masks this may be the number they were talking about. I don't change the number when I switch because it makes little difference.
If you are talking about your pressure settings I would question that without data measurement. What pressure are you on?

I'm on 11 psi, my mask is a Simplus and has no adjustment. 11 psi is fine with the mask but with the pillow it's just to strong for me, my doctor recommended to try 9 psi.
Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
Go to the bottom of kaisagram's post where there is a link to Apnea Board. Click on it. There you can find and download the clinical manual but you will need to know your model number which is on the bottom of the blower. Be sure the humidifer is removed before you turn your blower over.kaiasgram wrote:You can obtain the clinical manual from the Apnea Board website -- use the link in my signature box below.
Also, the mask adjustments we are talking about are not on the mask but on the machine.

It is not psi, it is cm of H2OMattkcc wrote:I'm on 11 psi, my mask is a Simplus and has no adjustment. 11 psi is fine with the mask but with the pillow it's just to strong for me, my doctor recommended to try 9 psi.

Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
I'm not sure why people are being resistant to answering your very simple question, but I will bite.
There are two basic setting systems on the REMstar...one is for the user (can change the settings daily if you like), and the other is for the vendor (for initial one time setup).
Several of the options are duplicated in both symptoms...such as whether to use the ramping option, or auto on/off, etc. But the air flow setting is not supposed to be available to the patient...this would be similar to having the pharmacy change your dosage on a prescription. I say horse pookey! It's your machine and you need to know how to make the adjustments that need making. But I would advise that you make only minor adjustments to this setting, and I bet after trying a couple of settings you will likely return to where you are now.
Ok , off my soapbox and time for the simple answer. There are only two buttons on the top of your machine...the main on/off button wheel, and the ramp button. Turn the wheel to "Setup" and then press both buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds...release when you will hear the beep. You will see several new setup options that are not available to you normally. Some of them you will want to read about in the manual as to what they are.
After you have made your selections, turn the wheel back to "Therapy" and press the wheel as you always do. The new options should be working. If you made mistakes, go back and undo them.
Its really very simple, so good luck,

Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
You probably need the instructions I posted in this link long ago. One set is for the Plus model with C-Flex and the other is for the Plus model without C-Flex.Mattkcc wrote:I need to reduce the pressure on my Remstar Plus C-Flex. I don't think they're being tight with the info for kicks. More likely the reasoning posted right off didn't sound like the OP is aware of how pressure works in different masks. It looked goofy to me, too...but what do I know?FredToo wrote:I'm not sure why people are being resistant to answering your very simple question, but I will bite.

Yes, thanks Tatooed Lady. I just wanted to be sure they new what they were changing and why, especially when the question related more to masks and there was no mentioning of data monitoring. The Clinician's Manuel has the info.Tatooed Lady wrote:I don't think they're being tight with the info for kicks.
