Buying masks as parts off of ebay/amazon

Post by DaveInGA » Tue Dec 09, 2014 8:34 am

I wouldn't normally do this, as I prefer to buy things whole and I do have a prescription, but right now, thanks to all the wonderful doctor bills, I'm extremely tight on money (self pay here). So I'm needing a full face mask and I need to get a good one as reasonable as I can, especially knowing I may have to get more than one before I find one that fits.

My understanding is you can buy all the parts to assemble a mask off of ebay/amazon for less expensive by a good bit less than buying a complete mask. Has anyone done this and if so, what was your experience? I'm mainly looking at Resmed products at this time, though I would consider any good, well recommended and reviewed mask.

Thank you,

Dave

Check out your other thread.
I have bought mask parts from EBay sellers. Never had a problem. Everything has always been what the seller said it was.
I have never used Amazon for cpap stuff. Mainly because I haven't found better deals at Amazon for what I might be wanting. It all depends on what you want.

I did this with my initial mask that the doctor gave me. I found that some FFM's share the same frame and headgear for the medium and large sizes. Nasal Pillow masks seem to share the headgear and base with small, medium and large.

If you buy piecemeal, you might not find all the pieces you need at one time, so start looking before you need it. And be careful to get the right size.

I bought a resmed quattro air for parts on eBay. $48 for the whole thing. All internet DMEs charges $176 for the complete mask. As a precaution, I clean everything thoroughly and disinfect with control iii before using the mask.

Can you provide some links? I couldn't get anywhere close to that price, though I did get under $100.00.

Check out your other thread...I provided a link for a Quattro Air I think it was.
My internet connection sucks right now (down to dial up non speed) or I would go look again.

In my area, Craig's list has lots of cpap masks and parts.

I've bought lot's of cheap gear on Ebay, Amazon and Craigslist and have never had a bad experience (except one minor one on Craigslist in three years). Just use common sense and PayPal. I also have insurance but it does not cover a lot of stuff. Hey, when I need stuff, I need stuff.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
