I've seen the promised land!!!
Looky there. 5h 12m of continuous sleep! Even the major mask leaks didn't seem to hurt anything. Look at the 15-20 minutes starting right before 3am -- that looks like it might be Stage 3 sleep, something I see very little of... And around 4am, the machine was willing to lower the pressure below 12cm.

Well done. A lot of members might say five hours continuous sleep is not a big deal but for somebody coming off of a rough patch of sleep deprivation it's a HUGE victory and signals a significant recovery. Congrats and here's to logging even more hours every night. Unless you are overly sensitive to mask leaks and they tend to wake you up OR they are too large and too enduring, then I think you can get by okay and still get good therapy... anyway, that's my experience. Work on leak improvement and be aware it may take some time to get it dialed in.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

The best I ever get at one time is 90 minutes, I am SO jealous of you! My interruptions aren't CPAP related, but prostate related and I am working on that issue right now with the Doc....maybe one of these nights I can get a five hour block of sleep.....that would be terrific! Way to go

TH... sorry to hear that. If you are getting up to pee that often there's are several levels of intervention for the problem, so it's good to talk to your doctor, as you mentioned.TangledHose wrote:The best I ever get at one time is 90 minutes, I am SO jealous of you! If it's your adrenal glands over reacting to stress stimuli (cortisol release), I've found magnesium and phosphorus supplements helpful. For the phosphorus I use Seriphos mineral supplement (google it). Magnesium supplements are easy to find at any drug store. There are also drugs that will help control the adrenal glands, but try the supplements first. Also, there is Flowmax (generic tamsulosin) that relaxes the some of the bladder muscles and allows one to empty their bladder before bedtime. For overactive bladders situations there are numerous drugs available plus certain botox injections, sorry, don't know much about them, however a quick internal search should yield answers. For enlarged prostate there are numerous surgical solutions to enlarge the urinary tract adjacent where it passes thru the prostate. Here's a starting point for that issue:

There is no reason to be getting up that many times to pee considering the numerous medical interventions possible.

I frequently get 4-6 hours continuous sleep, before a bathroom break.
I can no longer blame my prostate, since my doctor kept it back in 2006.

See a urologist ASAP. You might be developing or have prostate and/ or bladder cancer. I wouldn't go for a TURP. I had a TURP 35 years ago and it caused me to have problems with my bladder. Presently, I go to the bathroom to pee 2 or more times a night:TangledHose wrote:The best I ever get at one time is 90 minutes, I am SO jealous of you! AVI... So what did you finally do to get the frequent urination problem under control after the TURP... two times a night is not too bad considering age I hear the blue lasers are the benchmark now.avi123 wrote:See a urologist ASAP. Sir Nottingham, presently I have a cancer of the bladder. Just completed three months of chemotherapy. Urologists say that the cause could have been the Cysto/Turp that I underwent in 1983 for a benign disease. Another cause could have been my long time of cigarettes smoking (from age of 18 till 45). Next week, I'll be checked by a Urologist Surgeon. I doubt it that at my advanced age I would be surgery candidate (for a Robotic partial or radical Cystectomy).
I started to use a CPAP in 2010. Prior to my bladder cancer starting to cause problems, 3 months ago, I usually had the routine Sleep Apnea Nocturia of up to 3 a night, depending on the quality level of the OSA treatment.

That's sad to hear, AVI. I hope you get some good news about your results and have a decent recovery.avi123 wrote:AVI... I've recently thought about Oregon and their liberal 'end of life' attitudes - an older acquaintance recently moved to Oregon,to enter a hospice and is quite excited not to have to slog thru the final stages of dying. Personally, if I ever get to the point where there's no hope I'm moving up there (unless CA comes out of the dark ages, which is unlikely). Of course, I don't generally know what any stranger's beliefs or their religion have to say about the subject, however I can respect divergent points of view. That's what America is all about.

Re: I've seen the promised land!!!
Hi Cathy!
I can relate to what you are saying!
I am 6 months into treatment & can now sleep non-stop for an average of 8 hours! About 4 months in I began to notice I didn't have to get up to pee twice a night anymore & I was sleeping longer than a few hours at a time. Now I am consistently at 8 hours & it is a deep, refreshing sleep! Nothing wakes me! For years a pin drop would wake me, but not anymore. My energy levels & mood are better. The promised land it is!
I still have not lost weight or seen my blood pressure drop, but I am grateful to not be absent-minded & fuzzy headed anymore.
Enjoy!
Kathy
