Fisher Wallace and over stimulation

Post by Dogjudge » Mon Nov 17, 2014 3:07 pm

Still not getting restful sleep two nights in a row.

AHI has been running high 3s. Even got a couple of nights where it was less that 2! Those were better.

Some time ago, because of bi-polar issues, I got a Fisher Wallace stimulator. It was only so-so for that issue, so I hadn't been using it.

Maybe 10 days ago, I decided to see if this might help my sleep. I've been using it on a setting of 2.

I am feeling anxious, antsy after I go to sleep and wake up.

I'm beginning to wonder if the problem isn't that the unit is set too high.

Anyone have any experience with this thing one way, or another? I've done numerous internet searches and come up with absolutely zero about the settings.

I'd load the Sleepy Head information, but I haven't been able to get that to load. Every time I try to open the files, my computer appears to be reloading the zip file again.

we don't like to guess. get sleepyhead working.

get the latest version below. you need 7zip from 7-zip.org to unpack it, then you run the sleepyhead.exe file from the folder that's created.

Okay.

I downloaded Sleepyhead.
I downloaded 7zip.

I can pull up 7zip.

I've opened the file for Sleepyhead through 7zip.

What's next?

Sorry about you having to lead me through this, but I truly couldn't find the information elsewhere. Certainly wasn't on Sleepyhead, or 7zip.

It extracted the file, but I can't find where the file is at to open it.

Open the unzipped SleepyHead folder. Navigate down to the bottom of the files till you see either or both "open GL or broken GL" application.exe files. One of those is the file need to launch SleepyHead.
Try the Open GL first...it will let you know if that is the right file or not and if it isn't then go try the broken GL file.
All you do is double click on it to launch Sleepyhead. While there I would suggest that you right click the mouse on whichever file works and from the menu that pops up go ahead and make a shortcut so you don't have to open the big folder each time you want to open SleepyHead. I just chose the "pin to taskbar" shortcut for mine. That way SH is always available on my taskbar. You can put it wherever you are the most comfortable.
We have to launch this version of SleepyHead the old fashioned way since this version doesn't include an installer.
Future polished permanent versions will have an installer so you don't have to open the big folder and find the application.exe file.

The above is for Windows SleepyHead version. If you are using a Mac...I am not sure what steps or files you might need.

Pugsy

I'm really NOT a computer novice, but this is driving me crazy.

I was ecstatic when I saw a new website for Sleepyhead. I had hoped that would solve my installation problems. Nope.

I've installed Sleepyhead 3 times (deleting the previous downloads)

Steps.

Download Sleepyhead.
Open 7-zip
Go to the Sleepyhead download file.
Double click SleepyHead-OpenGL.exe
Up comes an error message "Qt5Core.dll is missing from your computer . . . "
Check the files. Qt5Core.dll is sitting there.
Double click SleepyHead-Broken.exe
Get the same error message
Check again and the Qt5Core.dll file is sitting there.

UGH!!!

you can't run a program from inside a zip (7z) file.... you have to extract the zip file into a regular folder.

Okay. To prove that I'm a total idiot.

Everything is running. I get my charts, etc. (Although I am getting data from a previous source apparently. I started using the machine on 9/22/2014 and the data goes back from Feb to July of 2011.)

How do I upload the information to here?

The reason I'm asking all of this is because I noticed that hypopnea events are 26. I'm hoping that this is the reason why I'm still waking up every few hours and still feeling like garbage in the morning.

Should I upload a few days?

Thanks again.

here's what I do.
find the day you want to upload, arrange the charts on the right so you have event flags, flow, pressure OR mask pressure if your machine has it), but not both) and leaks, then snore and flow limitations are sometimes nice, but at least the first four.

on the left, turn off the calendar (hit the ^ by the date) and make sure you're on the DETAILS tab.

then hit f12 to take a screenshot, or, click view/take screenshot from the menu.

this will save a screenshot into your sleepyhead data folder. if you're not sure where that is, click help/about on the menu, and it'll show you.

make an account on imgur.com, upload the screenshots to there, for each image you upload, imgur will give you a set of links, pick the one for bbcode, and paste it into your messages here.

If you have a 60 series machine like you show in your profile it couldn't have been used in 2011 I don't think because I think the 60 series machines were released until March of 2012....but maybe I am wrong.

You can check the manufacture date on your machine though and make sure...on the bottom of the blower unit there's a little sticker with the model number. The model number is a 3 digit with DS, REF or P in front or behind it. On the same sticker where the model number is there is an 8 digit number which is code for year/month/date of manufacture. Example...20140101 would be Jan 1, 2014.
See when the machine was made and verify that you have a 60 series machine (middle digit in the 3 digit model number would be 6).

If you do have a machine that was made after 2011 and there is data on the SD card from someone in 2011...then the SD card was what was used by someone else and stuck in your machine.
We can fix that little annoyance easily by simply removing those old files if you want to do that.
If your machine was indeed built in 2011 then we have a little bit more work getting rid of the old data that is on the machine if you want to do that.

If it is just the SD card that was used with maybe a different machine all you have to do is go into the SD card contents and delete the folder that has the old P(serial number) and then create a new user in SleepyHead and import again.

Thanks.

What happened at the last Dr. appt., the tech forgot to put the SD card in my machine. Then it got lost.

They told me they would send a new card.

No doubt they hadn't deleted the previous files.

Thanks again.
