Mouth Taping -- Micropore tape hard to start, rips unevenly?
Mouth Taping -- Micropore tape hard to start, rips unevenly?
I've been using the 3M Micropore tape to prevent mouth breathing and it seems to have helped greatly as my AHI has gone down. However, I'm usually trying to rip off a fresh piece in the dark and it is very difficult to start every time. I'll end up with only a partial strip of tape and the remaining part gets wrapped around. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Or has anyone tried the Micropore tape with the blue dispenser to get a clean cut? Also do people use a 1" roll? Thanks!

The trick with any tape roll is to fold over a 1/8 or 1/4" bit before putting it away so you have something to grab immediately, but others use blue painter's tape (which you'd still have to fold) which may be a bit easier to wear - avail. at any hardware or paint store.

Have you tried folding over a very short piece so you have something to grab?
In the morning make a new flap.

Thank you both for your ideas! I'll try making a flap to see if it helps.

Avoid duct tape...a roll of that kept by the bed could raise questions...

Tearing never works for me. (Maybe it's the webs)
I keep scissors handy, also good for loose threads, etc.

Blue painters tape...alrighty then, I'll try that.
What about your mouth opening up under the mask? My machine once cranked up gives me chipmunk cheeks and sometimes I wake up with my mouth open and very dry.
I dont mind the dry mouth cause i still feel well rested but am wondering about the therapeutic value? Im on 02 as well. Am I getting max benefit from my cpac with open mouth.
PS I really love what the machine has done for me...just say'en.

A moderately dry mouth may not be noticeably uncomfortable, but abundant saliva helps control oral bacteria.
Too dry means gum problems, and my dental insurance was really weaselly about covering it. YMMV,

Ditto... a dry mouth is not a good thing to have for more than a short period of time.chunkyfrog wrote:A moderately dry mouth may not be noticeably uncomfortable, but abundant saliva helps control oral bacteria.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
