HypoAllergenic Filers

Hi All.

How many of you use the "Hypoallergenic" filters in your machines as opposed the regular type filters ?

Can you tell any difference if you use the Hypoallergenic filters ?

I do suffer from allergies and my Doc had suggested I use the better filters, but I figure I will in for another fight with Crapria about getting the Hypoallergenic filters as I am sure they cost a little more than the regular type.

I've used them right from the get go......they do make a difference. You can get them easily from cpap.com.....I think they run about $11 per pack of six....I think......they are worth the extra coin IMHO.

unless they're free from your dme, I can't see a single reason to buy them there, when they're very cheap (on the order of a dollar each) from amazon and ebay.

I use them, as well as the antibacterial after filters, it helps my allergies.

I have used both....can't really tell that much difference but don't go by me because I also don't have any particular allergy issues. If I did I might be talking differently. If I knew I was allergic...no question I wouldn't even consider the regular filters. The cost difference isn't huge and I would want every possible advantage if I tended to have allergy problems on a regular basis. If my nose isn't happy...I am not happy.

I don't use my insurance for them because it's too much hassle and I can buy in bulk a lot cheaper.
Check out EBay if you want to buy in bulk and save money...also I know of one EBay seller who is still offering both ResMed and aftermarket regular and hypoallerginic filters...if name brand means anything to you. I can't tell the difference in those either. Side by side because I have both name brand and after market and I can't tell much difference.

My filters are covered 100% under my insuracne as well, so I may see if I can specify the HypoAllergenic filters next time I order them.

I have also used both. The Resmed filter turns grey after two to three weeks. The aftermarket filter remains white. I assume right or wrong that the Reamed filter is blocking more particulate matter.

I have worn dust masks in the "Cave", but they seem to restrict my breathing and make the trapped air in the mask too warm to be comfortable, so that didn't take. The cure was worse than the problem. Jim

yeah, those "durr why do you want to filter air, you don't do it during the day, hur hur hur" comments are obviously from people that don't have allergies.... (or, like goofy have already trashed their lungs and sinuses with whatever particulate matter is floating around in their cave as stated above)

I have allergies 24/7, years around I'm not supposed to use med's, due to heart issues, but did at night the normal filters in the machine helped. Finally I kicked the OTC med's, while I breath easier with xpap, I look forward to hosing up at night. Unfortunately not everyone lives in a home without allergy triggers or a bubble. Jim
