cowgirlcullen wrote:Ha, totally vindicated by my doctor yesterday! My sleep doctor said that AHI's below 20 receive no benefit, including longterm, with CPAP. I asked him that despite not feeling any difference after using it, would there be any benefit to my heart or other organs, and he said "no"! So there you go you know-it-all, self-righteous, miserable people who gave me crap about quitting!
Now, let me just say, that I am not one waste $150 to see my sleep dr. one last time (I am uninsured, as I have mentioned before) just to get confirmation of what I think I already knew by my research. I am a full-time college student and really don't have that kind of money to waste. I truly wanted to know if I would be harming myself in any way, be it long term or short term, by no longer using the CPAP. I researched it a good bit and then posted an article in a previous post in this topic that I found that dealt with the issue the best but that too was shot down by gung-ho CPAP believers on here.
Some of you seem to think that EVERYONE who has ANY apnea, mild or not, should use CPAP. However, the facts say otherwise. These are doctors who have looked into the matter quite thoroughly, who rely on what the studies actually show, what their patients have shown, to develop their opinions. If you are not concerned with the scientific evidence then I am not going to listen to you because you don't really know what you are talking about.
So before you go around trying to pressure people to use unnecessary remedies to problems that don't really exist, maybe you should ask yourself why are you really pushing your viewpoints onto people? To make yourself feel better about the fact that you have severe apnea and are stuck using a machine every night for the rest of your life? Because maybe you are doing good by making someone else use a CPAP? Well, you're not doing anyone any good by being completely misinformed and pushing your OPINIONS onto people. Educate yourself for crying out loud.
So, YES I AM SELLING MY CPAP! I AM SO HAPPY TO BE FREE OF MY CPAP AND THE CPAP COMMUNITY AT LARGE!
(As you can probably tell, I have not appreciated some of the treatment I have received on here. Some people need to educate themselves, not be a know-it-all who actually doesn't know what they are talking about. Oh, and by the way, I have a 143 IQ and am in advanced placement classes in all my college classes and am currently getting A's in all of them. So I highly doubt that my thinking, judgement, or awareness is impaired in the slightest bit, as you suggested.)
Now you're going to have an even BIGGER problem. And, I'm not going to tell you what it is. But, there may be a few more hints scattered through here......if you're smart enough to decipher them.
I'd suggest giving up driving, if you do. Get someone to assist you when your illnesses start to overcome you somewhere down the road. Good luck with the high blood pressure and Diabetes when they develop. Falling asleep on the job and at inappropriate times is gonna really suck. The snoring is going to make others' lives miserable. Frequent night time bathroom trips are going to get annoying. And, the list goes on and on.
Just because you THINK you're smart doesn't mean you've got an ounce of sense. People on the forum were willing to try to help you USE your machine and get used to your therapy (your "
PRESCRIBED MEDICAL DEVICE").
YOU came to the forum. None of us dragged you here. We get "quitters" here quite frequently. Sometimes we get them turned around and sometimes we don't. Doesn't really matter......there are lots of UNDIAGNOSED people in the world who need it, too. But, YOU WERE DIAGNOSED. Obviously, you had a sleep study of some kind and there was a reason you were prescribed the machine and therapy. But, now that information IS in your
PERMANENT MEDICAL RECORDS.
Your ego is way out of proportion to your intelligence (if any). You're filled with resentment for someone PRESCRIBING you this therapy and you feel the need to take it out on people who were trying to help you.
Grow up little girl. You ain't no "cowgirl". Just a spoiled brat.
And......your doctor is an idiot. Or......he just wanted to tell you what you wanted to hear to get you out of his office.
