I thought "cowgirls" got back on their horses when they get bucked off. They don't quit so soon.
We've had quite a few forum members from Montana who DON'T give up and successfully USE their therapy.

You haven't given this nearly enough time or tried the right combinations of things to make it work.
I'd strongly suggest you try to list what all you've tried and what the problems have been.
Also, list what all the settings are in your machine and humidifier.
Just because you think you have "mild" apnea, may be because they caught it before it got worse.
You're taking a SERIOUS condition too lightly. PLEASE DON'T!!!
Your OSA could have been the contributing factor to your weight gain.

I know that it may seem risky to buy something this way but I did check into it and you would definitely have recourse by calling the local sheriff and filing a complaint of fraud.
Don't believe me, call your sheriff before you call Jennifer. Today it is dangerous even meeting face to face. So if you have money you don't want send it to me.
Looked into a safer solution, there are online escrow places like <link removed>, which would only cost $38. Being an escrow, the money would stay put until the buyer releases the funds after receiving the package. Problem solved.
Honestly, the safest way is a face-to-face purchase. But then I thought you were gonna give it a go using the machine again?

I said that I had decided to wait and check with my sleep doctor this Thursday to make sure it wasn't a big deal that I quit using the CPAP. So we'll find out on Thursday and I will post what he said and what I've decided.
Not really. I have never us an Escrow before but would definitely not (as in NEVER) send money via Western Union, esp. when someone you don't know requests it. Bells should be going off - as they should when someones first post to a website is to sell something.

While you haven't even mentioned a price for this equipment or any pictures of it I will add this snippet I found about using an Escrow.
Seller claimed to be using SafeFunds. I had never used SafeFunds before, but just followed his instructions, because it was too good to be true. By this time, I was blind and ignoring all warning signals. The supposed SafeFunds e-mail came from safefund-support@insurer com. As well, what kind of a website service does all their transactions through e-mail, as I had to do? I was a complete idiot. I was blind to all the signs. It's now clear that I have a weakness of becoming weak if I see something that I really want.

So I deserved it, but I still want to nail this guy. I want my money back as well if possible, obviously.

The $1700 was wired via Western Union to the following: <snip>

Mine is mild as well (ahi was about 13 during my sleep study) but I have a significant family history of apnea, among other things, and I have a child who depends on me (as a single parent) so I chose to do everything I can in the way of *prevention* -- I've seen what untreated apnea can do over the long term, both with physical health issues and cognitive deficits. And I can tell you that just two months in I'm noticing an improvement in the quality of my sleep and in my overall outlook. But it sounds as though you've already made up your mind and attempted to arm yourself with justification, so I'll just wish you well and good luck in selling the CPAP.

AHI is an average - what was your O2 readings. How is your Blood pressure. low AHI with O2 drops is not mild apnea. You could be having severe while in REM but the average will look mild.

You are in denial, hunting for any scraps that will support your decision. This is very common in sleep deprivation - the inability to handle new information and make intelligent choices.

Plus the link you gave is from 2007, most of the conclusions based on earlier research, and a lot has changed since then!

Wow there cowgirl, that was a very interesting link. I have mild sleep apnea due to allergic rhinitis. I would wake up gasping for air. Yes, Veramyst has helped and I am undergoing allergy shots in hopes that breathing will improve. Even so if I don't wear the CPAP I wake up with headaches, a sure sign I need it. Another way I can tell is that I get up to urinate more when I don't wear it. Somehow low oxygen increases chemicals in brain that make you urinate more at night. And my energy levels are lower when I don't wear it.

Not only do your liver, etc. receive less oxygen but your brain as well. A doctor once told me when I said I just have mild sleep apnea, don't need the machine, was that lack of oxygen destroys brain cells causing brain damage - how much brain damage is acceptable to you? Is a little mild brain damage acceptable to you? Not me!

The more one wears the CPAP benefits will increase. Taken me a long time to get used to it. I had to learn to adjust the air flow myself and adjust it to a comfortable level. I have found so any answers here on this board, I hope you will too.

PS mouth guard didn't work for me cause it's the nose!

Relax???

What part of......
Just because you think you have "mild" apnea, may be because they caught it before it got worse.
......did you not understand?

We don't go to sleep one night and have SEVERE apnea. It sneaks up on us little by little over a period of time.

You're in serious denial (or DeNile.....that river in Egypt), and without this therapy, you're going to be "up a creek" (pronounced "crick" where I live).

What I'm getting from you, is that you'd rather live with the consequences of not using therapy
than the intricacies of making it work. Perhaps you do not understand what can (and often does) happen.
Think stroke (diapers!), heart disease, diabetes, dozing off while driving and killing a family.
Good luck with that. I will be steering clear of Montana.

Sorry i am also new to CPAP and have the same issue as cowgurls and have been looking for a resolution to using the machine but cant find one.
BUT my biggest issue with the machine is that i'm a light sleeper and the air blowing on my nose/face keeps me away.

I went for about a week with less than 2 hours sleep a day and felt worse than i've ever felt in my life.

My machine has been sitting under my bed for months now.
I've gotten an oral device and can sleep. its not great but its better than nothing.
