6ft to 10ft hose - Need Pressure Change??

Post by communilink » Mon Jul 17, 2006 7:15 pm

Ok, so I changed from a 6ft to a 10ft hose last night, and ran my numbers this morning and had the highest AHI index since I started. I have had .1 to .5 AHI since going on CPAP, and had a 5.5 AHI withthe only change being the hose. Anyone ever have to up their pressure after changing hoses?

No there is no major pressure change in going to a 10 ft hose, Going longer than 10 foot isn't recommended. With a APAP it may cause problems with the APAP flow readings but for the most part not, and CPAP is less critical.

I have used a 10ft from the start, I have a California King bed, and I roam the range nightly, alone in my Cave. Jim

They make a 18 inch, but I think your supposed to hook it to a hudimifier, but you could try it if your used to being on a short leash! Jim

6 foot annoying? are you routing it to keep it out of the way? man six foot isn't enough, i already ordered a 8 footer to help with hose routing, good luck with finding a 4 footer, never seen one.

I'd give it a few more nights to be sure the change of hose length is what's causing the jump in your AHI. If so, then you might want to go back to the 6 foot hose and try other ways to keep the hose from tugging at you.

well, I took to experimenting and upped my pressuer by 1cm (14 to 15). That not only reduced my AHI index to .5 again, but also reduced the snore index buy 80% of what it has been since I changed to the Hybrid Mask. I wondered if the extra pressure was needed to compensate for the increased flow of the mask.

On a side note, I followed the pack here and removed the chin flap from my Hybrid and it made a world of difference, almost no leaks at all, and improved AHI index. Can't ask for more at this point.

My machine has settings for hose length (2m or 3m).
You might want to check if yours does?
