Faulty mask

Post by Sclark08 » Mon Oct 06, 2014 11:01 am

Has anyone ever purchased a mask that was faulty?
I use the Ultra Mirage. My last mask has leaked since day 1 . I tried liners tape you name it. It seems to be leaking at the connection on the front of the mask that the hose fits on to.
I'm taking it back to DME along with my machine so they can check it out
Hope they give me a new one but not holding my breath ! Wish me well

You may be referring to the CO2 exhaust. That is not a mask leak. The exhaust is to get rid of the air you have already breathed. It must be there.

No - the vent of that mask (that I wear) is higher up, not at the hose connection, which is why I like it as a stomach sleeper - it doesn't get blocked by bedding.

I have one Airfit N 10 and it blows back from the valve against my face!

Right Julie I am aware of the exhaust hole and you are right it is high on the mask. My mask is coming from the hose connection arm. Will let you know what I find out tomorrow. Thanks to all for answering

Coincidentally, a couple of weeks ago, I had that part (swivel at the "Anti Asphyxia Valve") break (after 9+ years). I happened to have a complete assembly that I replaced the broken one with. (But, I also had spare/backup masks I could have used, too.) Where it broke for me was one side of the two little "clip" things near the front of the mask and just before it gets to the actual "elbow".

The night before I noticed it was broken, I detected a considerable amount of air coming out of the right side of the swivel.

There are two parts to this... one is that I don't have leaks to speak of on my sides, I do have them with awful noises on my back (tho' don't normally sleep there anyhow), and on my front I have no leaks at all, but part of that is because there is a kind of press fit happening (the mask being held on well by the sides of the depression in the memory foam that I cut out - a sort of compromise between turning my head at right angles to the mattress (not comfortable) and the hole a massage table would have in it. Weird, but it works for me. And it's also why having the vent higher up means it's not blocked at the elbow angle (as it would be) by foam, etc.

Have you ever disassembled the mask?
Is the AA Valve/elbow retainer clip (ring) installed properly? (inside the mask)
