Question for Oxygen accumulator users

What is the best / quietest accumulator?

They gave my wife one that is so loud it's like having an 18 wheeler idling in the bedroom.
It's an Invacare.

there's an invacare everflow 2 in the next bedroom over. it kinda purrs along with a gentle 'thump' every 10 seconds or so as it changes tanks.

an oxygen concentrator and an oxygen compressor are two very different things.

one (the concentrator) pulls oxygen out of the room air, concentrating the 20%(ish) o2 to something in the 90% range.

the other (the compressor) compresses that oxygen into high pressure oxygen tanks.

Watch the video, get the quieter one. Then put it in another room with a long hose.
And don't forget to close the doors between you and the truck.. ER machine.
Even the quiet one sounds a bit like a Mack truck.

seriously, though, the invacare everflo 2 that's here is really quiet, I mean, you can HEAR it, and there's a regular 'thump' sound it makes, but I can't hear it running over the fan that my friend has blowing on him. well, I can hear the thump, but it's not loud or annoying. he's got it at the foot of his bed.

Updating:

The first night was pure hell -- for me --- she slept right through the noise.
The second night ( Thursday ) she turned the machine on and the alarm went off and we couldn't get it to work, so they came out today and replaced it with a Respironics Everflow and WOW what a difference!!!!
The new one makes, maybe, one third the noise. I think I can live with this one.

Hard to believe they can't make them as silent as my S9 APAP.

Scouring the Internet I see some that fill tanks, including the noise machine they gave her first. But they don't give you any info on tanks.
I see some systems with the concentrator / compressor / accumulator whatever they call it and portable tanks.

They are charging her a co-pay of $35 / month and that would soon BUY one of these machines.
The one they sent out first can be bought for $630 online so I'm wondering what the top of the line would be.

They don't want to give you the price online--- insist on you calling them or giving them your email so they can bug you --- scroo that --- won't do that unless I absolutely have to.
Think I should search Amazon and Ebay.

respironics is a company that makes things pretty much equal to what resmed does...

you have to consider the vastly different jobs that the two machines are doing.

one is increasing pressure slightly with a small fan.

the one one is actually filtering nitrogen out of the air by compressing air into modules that absorb nitrogen, flushing the other gasses out (mostly oxygen) and then letting the nitrogen flush out. it's pretty amazing technology:

And that is what she has now.

Think I'll go searching YouTube ... just out of curiosity.

I think our ideal solution would be an OXYGEN COMPRESSOR that I could fill a thank with and keep the compressor in my shed and bring the tank into the bedroom and get rid of ALL the noise.
I could fill tank(s) during the day and she could use them at night instead of a noisy machine. Reckon that would cost quite a bit more though.

Fortunately, this new machine seems to be a LOT quieter and I < may > be able to adapt to it, In which case a compressor won't be an issue.
But I think we would be better off BUYING a unit rather than paying her rip-off insurance company $35 / month. If her co-pay is 20% that would mean they are claiming they pay over $2200 a year to RENT that machine for her.

oxygen compressors are certainly available, for just the purpose that you mention... filling tanks instead of having to have them delivered. i have no idea what the cost on those units is though.

a friend of mine was dropping too low in o2 sat even with his asv, and I found him a brand new invacare perfecto2 on craigslist for about 350$. keep an eye out

The cost of using the machine to fill the tanks would be a lot morethan using ghe machine to meet your needs as direct flow. The tanks are high pressure, so the unit must be much more heavy duty, that makes the machine cost more, and the electric use way higher, plus the job of lugging the heavy cyls around. It would take a pretty big tank to last all night.

You can get a cryo tank mounted outside, and filled when low. The fill your own tank at home is mainly for filling portable tanks, for short trips like going out to the store or doctor visits if needed, also short power failure. Jim

I checked them out and now I'm suspicious
But I dunno what is being done for sure. On those videos they turn the unit on and the alarm whistles but after that there is ZERO sound.
I suspect they have rigged the units so the alarm whistles when they turn it on but the unit doesn't actually work because they don't want that loud noise in their videos.
Which, to me, is misleading advertising because they don't show you how loud the damn thing is.

The new machine they brought out is better than the first one but still louder than what I consider " comfortable ".
I'm trying to convince my owner to put it in the bathroom and close the door but she thinks she would run into the door when she gets up in the night or that the cats would play with the hose ( possible ).

I may give ear plugs a try.

Think I might make a video showing how loud the unit is and post it so people can compare and see if it is louder than theirs or if this level of sound is " normal ".
The specs on the unit claim 43 decibles but this seems louder than that.

that's what the perfecto2 I have here claims, perhaps I'll get my decibal meter out and test it

I can hear it purring along, and there's a definite 'thump' every three or four seconds...
