I am very new here and to my cpap machine. Overall, the results have been rather good in the first 4 days. However, I have "bathroom break" every night, generally 3 hours into the sleep session. Before the cpap, I was up 3-5 times a night, using the bathroom break as a way to "reset" and hopefully fall asleep. Anyways, using the ramp up feature, which they set at 25 minutes, I find it hard to fall back asleep after getting up. In addition, my head is a little fuzzy during that time and it too takes time to reset myself and fall back asleep. So in a 8 hour sleep session, I am awake for 25-45 minutes.
I figure the bathroom break is going to just be a natural part of aging and my occupation. I coach sports and in this case football, so I am re-hydrating in the evenings (still 90 degrees most days) and then needing to eliminate the excess at night. Any suggestions on how to resume sleep and is there a way to avoid the ramp up without changing the settings in the middle of the night?

have you tried turning off ramp and seeing if you can get to sleep without it in the first place.
second, as a coach, shouldn't you know the importance of *staying* hydrated?

So many of us (majority I think) don't use the ramp at all after a very short trial at the beginning, but while it's important to stay hydrated, maybe there's a way to re-time when and how much you do it and when you use the bathroom... hopefully it will be better when the weather changes.

You can adjust the ramp to as little as 5 minutes or turn it off.
I think you can also adjust the start pressure for the ramp to be greater than 4 cm.
And, yes you and your team should be hydrating all day, not waiting till evening.
If you are still coaching you can't be that old.

An alternative to turning off the ramp is to shorten the ramp time to 10 minutes. It depends on whether you really need some ramp time, especially now that you've had a chance to get used to the machine and the pressure. Only you can determine that, and you may have to spend a few nights experimenting with various ramp times and turning it off before you know what it is that gets you back to sleep more quickly.

Don't turn your machine off when you get up. Just put your mask back on to go back to sleep without having to go thru ramp again.
