SD card sent to DME
SD card sent to DME
I have been on CPAP for a month now. I had to send in my SD card to the DME. This is going to drive me nuts not knowing my nightly readings. LOL I have no clue when I will get it back. I was told my machine will hold the data till I get the card back and load it on the card once I do get it back. Anyone know how long my CPAP will hold that data? Also, how long did it take to get your card back?

Re: SD card sent to DME
I have never sent my card to the DME - when I was being assessed for compliance they called me, I told them I had been using the machine for 7-8 hours per night, with 0 missed nights in the last month. They accepted that I wasn't lying (you can fool some of the people some of the time, I guess!), and I went back to checking my data on Encore Viewer and then on Sleepyhead. However, I was having problems with my card breaking - the tab on the side fell out - so I went to a well known store that sells SD cards, and purchased one. It is working perfectly in my machine and then in my computer. You should get your card back - or at least if they tell you to send the card in again, you can tell them they need to send you the card first. The machine should download the information the DME needs when you put the card in. Then you send that card back, keeping your own.

Re: SD card sent to DME
The technical answer is years.
The real answer is that detailed data accumulates in the machine but waveform data requires the card be in the machine.
So, just go and buy an inexpensive 2GB SD card and use that until you real one gets back.
If you load to SleepyHead, all the data will be retained. Encore will also but you have to load every day you have the card to get the waveform data.
Don't get a high capacity card, you'll never in your lifetime fill even a 2 GB card.
Mostly SDHC cards in lower capacity will work but SDXC won't.
Here are some recent links to sources for SD cards:

Re: SD card sent to DME
I just wonder if I do use my own card (which I have already) will the machine download the new data to the original card afterwards. I am not sure if I will have to keep sending the card in to the DME. I know I have to prove usage so my ins will cover my machine and any new mask or tube I may need. I also know that at least this time they want to see how I am doing and make any adjustments they feel I may need.

the machine will update compliance info onto whatever card is put in there. that's the most important thing, according to the DME and insurance.JMyers wrote:I just wonder if I do use my own card (which I have already) will the machine download the new data to the original card afterwards. Re: SD card sent to DME
I guess I am not making myself clear. I don't want data on multiple cards. I want to wait till I get my original card back. I was just wondering how long my machine will hold onto the info without the card.
Yes I do have other SD cards for cameras. If I were to use that will the machine then load the info already on my regular card on the original card.

Re: SD card sent to DME
Your machine will retain for about 30 days everything but wave form (flow rate) data and will write that data that is stored on the machine's internal memory to any SD card inserted in it. Summary usage is retained for 1 year on the machine's internal memory.
For wave form/flow rate graphs the SD card must be in the PR S1 machine all night for you to have that piece of data.
So it depends how long your DME keeps your SD card and will they return it to you with the data that was on it intact or will they erase it (sometimes they erase it because they really don't care about anything but hours of use) as to how much data is lost from that SD card.
You can use a spare SD card while the DME has the first card and then copy the new data files and put them in the folder and then the first SD card will have all files including wave form.
You of course can't get any wave form/flow rate files for the nights that there wasn't any SD card in the machine.
There are 3 file types for each sleep session if the SD card is in the PR S1 machine.
xxx.001
xxx.002
xxx.005 it's this file that holds the flow rate graphs and will be missing if the SD card is not in the machine during the night.
The other files the machine will store for a period of time and put them on any SD card...new or used. I think the xxx.001 files are the ones the machine stores for a year but I can't swear to it.
If you had put a spare SD card in the machine immediately there wouldn't be any loss of anything and you can combine the 2 cards.
It's easy to do with the PR S1 machine.

Re: SD card sent to DME
There really isn't a reason to maintain all the data on the card if you're downloading to Sleepyhead.
But if you really want to have one card with literally all the data, you can just copy it to your hard drive and then copy it back to another card.

Re: SD card sent to DME
I like the idea of requesting a second data card from the DME, which you can place in your machine for a couple hours some afternoon. Then send that card back to them and put your card back in the machine before bedtime.
My data card has been acting wonky lately so I requested a replacement. You would think they are made of platinum. They wanted me to return my card before they would send me a replacement. It required a half hour debate to convince them to send the card out first.
Don't they realize the wages paid during that debate cost them much more than an SD card?

Re: SD card sent to DME
Probably not automatically. However, if you dive into the folder structure, there isn't much to it.JMyers wrote:I guess I am not making myself clear. I don't want data on multiple cards. There is a folder 'P-Series', then inside that one is a folder with the serial number of your unit. Once inside THAT folder, you start to get to the data with folders p0, p1, etc. It appears that folders are added after 499 files. There are three files added each session. You can just copy the files from your temp SD card into there and I would assume that it would work just fine. As long as the machine continues to name the files in order regardless of the card, of course.

Re: SD card sent to DME
If you're using SleepyHead, copy the entire SD card to your machine every so often. I rename the folder created to something like PRS1\140912.
DME's are bad about erasing the SD cards once they read the data off of the card. Or even returning someone else's SD card. There's even an option in Encore that automatically erases the SD card once they read it.
My individual card images are no more than 65 MB or so, so I can keep a lot of them around. If you ever need to rebuild your SleepyHead data base, you can use these files. I believe you can also use these images with Encore, but you have to copy them back to an SD card and then import them into Encore.
