Airfit P10 Mask
Airfit P10 Mask
When I had my last sleep study, the Resmed Airfit P10 was used per my request because I was interested in changing from Swift FX to the Airfit when it is time to replace my mask. The machine used in my sleep study was not a Resmed.
So, I was just online reading the guide for the Airfit P10 and under notes it states:
This mask is not compatible for use with ResMed AutoSet CS™ 2 and VPAP™ Adapt SV devices.
SmartStart may not operate effectively when using this mask with some CPAP or bilevel devices that have this feature.
My doctor prescribed the following which I am currently on:
Machine: S9 VPAP S BiLevel Machine
Mask: Swift™ FX Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear
Humidifier: S9™ Series H5i™ Heated Humidifier with Climate Control
My question is, does anyone know why the Airfit P10 is not compatible with my current configuration or is my configuration not one of the VPAP devices it mentions not being compatible?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Airfit P10 Mask
I don't really see a correlation between the two... does your machine say 'autoset CS2 or VPAP Adapt SV on top of it?netsurfer wrote: This mask is not compatible for use with ResMed AutoSet CS™ 2 and VPAP™ Adapt SV devices.

Re: Airfit P10 Mask
These are the the older models of a very special high end type of machine (S8 and older) and they had a problem with all nasal pillow masks. People were pretty much limited to full face masks on those older models. The Swift FX carries the same precaution even now.
The newer S9 models of those special need high end machines don't have a problem with nasal pillow masks. It's not an issue. If it were they would add the S9 model so and so to the precaution.
I am currently using the S9 VPAP Adapt and nasal pillows..no problem.
The S9 VPAP S isn't one of those special high end machines anyway. Even the S8 model of that machine it was okay to use nasal pillow masks.

Re: Airfit P10 Mask
I use the AirFit P10 system with my S9 VPAP Auto, and have no problems. Smart Start works like a charm. Put it one, breath a couple times and it starts the machine. Get up to use the loo, put P10 on the pillow, and the machine stops before I get 5 steps from the bed. You have to turn leak alarm off in order to turn Smart Start on. IPAP is 17 and EPAP is 11.

Re: Airfit P10 Mask
apw5746, my machine must not have the SmartStart feature enabled. Whenever I turn it on the air flows immediately before I have a chance to breathe. I have to turn it off when I get up as well. Otherwise, it would keep flowing.

Re: Airfit P10 Mask
smart start is an option you could see when you hit the config button, if you don't see it, then it's turned off in the clinical menu.netsurfer wrote:apw5746, my machine must not have the SmartStart feature enabled. as was mentioned, you have to turn off the leak alert feature and then smart start is available.
it just allows you to turn the machine on and off without having to touch the power button

Re: Airfit P10 Mask
I am kind of thinking mine is does not have the auto. The cost appears to be the same as your model, but I think the only difference may be the auto feature.
