Another newbie

Post by winehead » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:12 pm

Hello all I had my sleep study in late July and just got my machine on 8/20 . Thanks to this forum I downloaded sleepyhead. First night I did about 3 hours and AHI was 18.9
Second night AHI was 13.8 and last night it was 7.72 I actually went over 4 hours last night. I seem to wake up and have the urge/need to remove my mask and I dont put it back on. I hope this passes.

You might want to add your pressure and other settings to your profile so folks may offer suggestions.

It looks like you are going in the right direction. Hopefully there will be continued progress and your issues will self resolve. I am wondering if the events slipping through are what's waking you. Also, that many events would mean a lot of pressure fluctuation if you are using your machine in auto mode. That in itself can be disrupt to sleep for some. What pressure do you end up at most of the night? If it's pretty far above your starting pressure of 8, maybe moving your bottom number up a bit could make your treatment more effective and as a result allow you to sleep longer. May be too soon to do much since it does seem you are already going in the right direction.

When you have a few more nights with hours of use over 4 hours and if the AHI still remains high (over 4 or 5)....how about posting a couple of examples of the daily detailed reports from SleepyHead?
Here's how with some examples if you don't know how to do the images.
Screen shot thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81072&p=737779#p737779
It's not unusual to have a high AHI at first especially if you are waking often and typically the AHI is high because of awake centrals/Clear Airway event flags but if they are OAs then maybe therapy isn't quite optimal since you are using cpap mode at 12 with EPR of 3(I think that is what your profile said)
