ResMed AutoScan 5.7 software
ResMed AutoScan 5.7 software
I installed the software this afternoon and put the data card in the reader and all seemed to work ok.
One problem though, the entire time the Autoscan software is active it is trying to access my floppy drive. Nonstop.
Is there a way to kill this bug?

My laptop doesn't have a floppy but there are times when I need one so I have an external USB one. When it is plugged in, I can even boot from it. If I leave a floppy disk in it and unplug it without ejecting the floppy first, Windows XP will complain and complain every boot until I connect it back.
There is a registry entry you can remove which holds the list of last opened files in cache, if one is listed referencing a:filename.ext, if you delete those it should stop. Think the key is MRU or Most Recently Used...
But you can mess things up real good not knowing what your doing with the registry.

Yes, it's compatible, but not the most user friendly or useful when compared to alternatives from other manufacturers. It can be purchased from this site at https://www.cpap.com.
In terms of user friendliness it does 2 things that are in the 'irritating' category
1) It does keep trying to access all disks on a PC including the floppy
2) It can be fiddly to get the serial comms working if that is the method chosen
I haven't actually tried using it with a USB datacard reader (S8 range) as I had no real problems getting the serial connection working but on a rather old pc
These issues are ones the new Cpap Users Group are likely to take up with Resmed once it is officially launched in a few weeks time.

Hi Jacko,
I'm still not sure which ResMed machine you have. There are such things as the S7 series of machines (older) and S8 series (newer.) The S7 Autoset Spirit and the S8 Autoset Vantage are both autopaps.
Is the number for your machine (never mind the "name" of the machine for the moment) S7 or is it S8?

If you look at Resmed's Australian site (http://www.resmed.com.au), you'll see that the US model S8 AutoSet Vantage is the same as the Australian S8 AutoSet Spirit. The US S8 Elite is the Australian S8 AutoScore, and the US S8 Compact is the Autralian S8 Lightweight.
Cheers.
