CPAP Not working for me

Post by Tumdace » Wed Aug 13, 2014 10:32 am

Ive been using the F10 on a trial for 3 weeks now and I feel 100x worse in these last 3 weeks than I ever had before.

My doctor only prescribed CPAP and my sleep group wont set me up with an APAP unless the doctor approves it.

My trial is up in 1 week and Ive only tried the F10 because I thought I was a mouth breather, and I want to try the P10 instead to see if it makes a difference. The problem is my sleep group wants "data from the machine" as evidence of my sleep problems. The thing is apparantly my AHI is 0.5% and leak rate is below 50 (which I am told is good, I am a total noob when it comes to this stuff).

I have also been told (I live in Ontario Canada) that the doctor can report me to the Ministry of Transportation if I dont accept CPAP therapy. The problem is that if its not working for me, I should not have to be forced into it, or if I am forced into it, at least give me freedom to try different things.

I really wonder how many people have actually perfectly found a working solution for them within a month.

How many hours of sleep are you averaging?
Are those hours fragmented with a lot of wake ups?
Are you having lots of issues with the mask bugging you?

Your AHI is acceptable and the leak rate for the F & P icon report showing 50 L/min is borderline high. Large leak territory is 60 L/min with that machine.
How about using SleepyHead so you can see the real leak graph?

Ill run it tonight when I get home from work.

I dont remember waking up but I guess Sleepyhead will let me know. My sleep group wants the data from my machine tomorrow.

The last 2 nights in particular have been the worst ever for me. I feel like I got hit by a truck.

How do I go about posting the sleepyhead data on here? Just take a printscreen of it?

Also, I exchanged my F10 for a Mirage Quattro today, so will be my first time trying it out tonight to see if it works any better.

Yes, we use screen shots of the report image and put that image on some place like Photobucket and then link to them.
We talked about it here in this thread and there's some examples.

you can hit 'f12' in sleepyhead to make a screenshot, hit the ^ by the calendar and f8 to turn off the right sidebar,

the screenshots go into your Documents directory, under SleepyHead.

Just be aware that on some computers, such as my Toshiba Windows 8.1 laptop the F12 key is the same as the wireless key... on my computer the END key is also the Print Screen Key.. so look for a print screen key... every computer is different

About the mask liners: I'd like to try them out but I havent been able to get a response from Becky yet. Anywhere else I might be able to get my hand on a sample pack?

Did you have a diagnosis already? It looks like either your therapy is going well, or your problem wasn't sleep apnea to begin with. If breathing through the machine is the problem it's probably because your pressure is so low.
