eyelids sticking

Most mornings when I wake up my eyelids sort of stick and it takes a little effort to open them. I try to make sure the mask is tight enough that the air does not blow on them but most nights while sleeping the masks shifts and I sometimes end up with the air on my eyes. This is starting to cause me concern that it my eventually lead to vision problems. I'm a diabetic which sometimes cause vision problems and I'm concerned this eyelid sticking can speed that along. Has anyone experience this? Thanks.

Eyelids sticking in the morning may be a symptom of a medical problem as well as a result of air blowing into your eyes from your mask. A mask liner may be helpful in controlling air leaks that blow into your eyes. You might want to check with your doctor to see if anything medical needs to be investigated.

If you are new to CPAP therapy there are some helpful things to do:

1. Get a copy of your sleep study and your sleep titration study. They have interesting information that will help in understanding your child's therapy

2. Get a copy of your prescription for your own records. It will be necessary if you choose to change DME's or order online

3. Post your equipment. There is a link on how to do this in my signature block below. Please select TEXT as a display choice as many CPAP machines and masks appear similar but are significantly different

5. While the LCD display is somewhat useful, it is better to use one of the reporting software programs to get detailed information on your therapy. The two available for Respironics machines are: Encore (Basic or Pro) and SleepyHead.
If you have a ResMed machine, the SleepyHead and ResScan are the programs of choice.

Thank you very much for your reply. My equipment is listed below. I have been on CPAP since March. Not sure what you mean about my child's therapy. Anyway I'm sure the issue is CPAP related. On the rare occasions I do not use my equipment I do not get the eyelid sticking and even with the equipment it's about 3 quarters of the time. I have an appointment with the neurologist that prescribed CPAP tommorw. I'll get my records then. My equipment doesn't work with the software that is more detailed. It only records the days and hours the equipment is used.

Sorry, I got your post confused with one about a child new to CPAP.
That sure sounds like compliance hours only.

By using the LCD screen you can get a little information about efficacy -AHI

Since you have had your machine not too long, you might discuss with your doctor the possibility of changing to one that is fully data capable.

Be sure to discuss the eye issue also.

I have worn goggles when my mask allowed too much leakage into my eyes.
With nasal pillows, it is much better, but I still need some artificial tears when I wake up.
I also use a dry eye product at night--Systane Ultra or Systane Balance.

I had family visiting from out of State all last week so I'm just getting around to check the forum. Thank you both very much for the replies. I have played around with the LCD of my CPAP machine but I was not able to find any other info but I'll try again. I have Aetna HMO and I doubt if they will provide a different machine. But I will ask anyway. I explained to the Neurologist last Monday at my appointment about the eye issue and she gave me a scrip to try a different mask.
