Hi!

This is my 1st post although I have been lurking/getting quite an education since my moderate/severe sleep apnea diagnosis this past May.

I had hoped to figure out how to upload my machine (Philips Respironics C+ 560 series) and mask (nasal pillows), but cannot find the user panel to do so. Rather than waste anymore time on computer problems I figured I'd just jump in with both feet and ask some questions I have had on my mind...

I have been pretty faithful about 'gearing up' every night despite feeling embarrassed enough to turn off the light so my husband of almost 20 years cannot see my Zorro like transformation! I was able to get my Sleepyhead reports that seem to indicate some significant leaks at times which leads to my first question.

If I take the mask off in my sleep and the machine is on does it get recorded as a 'leak?' I had stretched out the band that goes around my head (Please..no comments...lol) and I'd wake up with the mask off. I have now secured the band with hair clips...and hope to see an improvement in my reports...

Also, did anyone waking up feeling refreshed at 5am or earlier than their normal waking time after a few weeks of therapy?
I have mornings like this although I do still take a 30 minute nap everyday regardless...

I also wake up religiously around 2am and 4am. The 4am is to use the bathroom...I really need to go. Is this something that can be addressed so I can sleep through?

I'd appreciate any feedback on my questions that can be given.

Thanks!

Do you see any events, large leaks or significant pressure changes (on the SleepyHead reports) that occur just before you wake up?

Peeing at 4:00 a.m. can sometimes be addressed by not drinking anything after, say, 6 or 7 p.m. Just make sure to hydrate well throughout the day.

You probably already make sure you go just before bed. Some people get help by going 10 minutes before bed and then again just at bedtime (the double P).

Hi - after registering, cilck on 'User Cotrol Panel' under the main logo (tiny letters!) and then hit Profile. Fill it all in with as much detail as possible - please use 'text' and not 'icons' - and when this week's glitch of NOT showing that info for everyone below their posts is fixed(!), yours will appear the same way.

Hello and welcome. The options for listing equipment are found when one is logged in as a forum member but not when in guest mode. Looks like you're gonna be around for a bit so you might as well join. About the wakeups, making sure your treatment is indeed therapeutic and your equipment is as well fitting and comfortable as possible are the first steps. Sounds like you're working on that. Having apnea events can cause an urge to urinate, so it's best to rule out that as a problem then work your way down the line of wakeup possibilities. Some people never sleep straight through a whole night and don't consider it a problem. I'd prefer not to wake up, but at least my wakeups are brief, so I just do what I can. I know when my sugar is up there will be a potty run. When my legs are swollen after a long day, I know as the swelling goes down the fluid has to go somewhere, hence another potty run. I have jumpy legs so they can cause wakeups too. Some meds can cause fractured sleep. We all have to sort through our potential causes and work toward our own personal best. It can take time for our brain to relearn healthy sleep patterns. If you are getting adequate hours of sleep and feel rested, I wouldn't consider brief wakeups or earlier wakeups too worrisome. Now, if waking up early means short sleep, that's another story. Hope things level off for you soon.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

I am still having computer problems...there are no small letters for the user control panel to enter my info, but the more important info I needed were in your responses. I do have leg swelling and take night meds with a drink which may be contributing to needing to pee at 4am. I will make sure I address that.

I am not 100% sure on how to interpret my reports, but it does seem like there are indications of activity before 2 and 4am. I need to look into this further.

Again, thanks for the feedback!

You have to register here at the forum and then be logged in to get the User Control Panel where you can edit your equipment.
