Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
I had an older version 0.9.3 installed and hadn't checked my numbers for a long time.
I downloaded the new version 9.6 for Windows ( broken GL version? ) but it will not install.
Winzip says unable to process.
Unfortunately, while trying to make things work, I deleted my old version and all the old version install files
What have I done wrong?
It < did > unpack when I mistakenly unpacked it into the Downloads/ Sleepyhead directory but won't unpack into the Programs(x86)/ Sleepyhead directory.

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
Willie, I'm no expert in Sleephead, I just downloaded for the first time a few weeks ago. I had a little trouble extracting to x86, too. I think what I did after a failed attempt was to create a folder (sleepyhead) in programs x86 first and then extract to that folder. That ends up with a folder within a folder, but it worked for me. I think it has something to do with permissions to load to x86. After it was extracted, I created a shortcut for the desktop and it worked fine.

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
I let it go ahead and install in the downloads folder and it runs ok from there but that isn't where it belongs.
I already had a Sleepyhead folder in Programs(x86) from the previous installation but it would not install there.
When I let it install I got a message that it would work but the OPEN GL version would work better.
I downloaded that but can't unpack it at all. The file ends in .dmg ( I think that's the letters ) and I have no idea how to unpack it. Winzip won't touch it.
Arrggg.
Anyway, I have the brokenGL version running from the wrong location so I suppose it could be worse. At least it runs.
It found a years data on my card it says ( although how I dunno because no datafiles show in the Datalog directory ) but it appears to be only partial data and no data from last night.
Hopefully tomorrow it will get tonights data.
I would like to be able to install it in the proper directory though. I wonder why it will install in the downlaods directory but not in the programs directory.

I'm running the 9.6 broken GL version. I "think" that's the one that is currently recommended.

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
When I installed that version ( in the wrong folder ) I got a popup that said the OPEN GL version would work better because my computer is able to handle it.
So I tried to install it but can't figure out how to unpack it.

.dmg is a MAC file. If you are on a windows machine, you have the wrong version for your OS

Willie, you can look through this thread and see which one is the one to use, but I still think it's the broken Gl one. In any event, it works fine for me.

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
The OFFICIAL download site for SleepyHead has changed because JediMark has had numerous troubles with SourceForge's "fake" Green download buttons.
The most recent version of SleepyHead is 0.9.6. Folks, please remember this is still beta-test software.
If you want to download SleepyHead 0.9.6, please go to: http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH/
The page looks like this:

TO INSTALL SleepyHead 0.9.6 on a WINDOWS machine:
The ONLY version of SH 0.9.6 for Windows right now is the "BrokenGL build". It SHOULD work fine on ANY Windows machine. When you click on the link that is marked as the Windows version, SH 0.9.6 should be downloaded to your computer as a zip file that is named SleepyHead-20140623-Win32-0.9.6-testbuild-Qt5.3.0-BrokenGL-WinXP-MinGW.zip
NOTE: The file that ends in .dmg is the MAC version of SleepyHead and it will NOT work on a windows machine.
SleepyHead 0.9.6 for Windows does NOT have an installer. You need to save the .zip file somewhere you can remember and unzip it.
In order to run SleepyHead 0.9.6, you have to go into the unzipped SleepyHead folder and click on the SleepyHead.exe file to launch the program. While you are in the unzipped SleepyHead folder, you should create a shortcut for future use so you don't have to go into the folder each time. I suggest right click mouse on the SleepyHead.exe file and choose "pin to start menu" or "pin to taskbar" for easy access.

I'm sorry you are having more problems with the recent version of SleepyHead. For most people, SH 0.9.6 works better and has more useful features than SH 0.9.3 or SH 0.9.5.
Rather than simply saying the program sucks, why don't you take the time to file a proper bug report that lets JediMark and those who help him understand the difficulties that you are now having?

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
I did install the broken gl version for Windows and when i started it up it said the opengl version would work better on my machine, so I downloaded the only one I could see that said " opengl " ... I figured that file was for Mac when I saw the extension.
Question is ... if there is no opengl version for Windows ... why does it pop up and tell me the opengl version would work better?

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
The versions of SleepyHead you guys have been using are not releases, but are test builds... every single one of them.
It takes a lot of time preparing, testing and uploading builds for multiple platforms. I build most Windows test builds as "BrokenGL", because they pretty much work everywhere and it can cover the widest usage scenarios. I don't see much point in switching off working code that lets you know better builds is available, because there will be better ones available soon.
If you think it's disappointing using broken software, try being the one responsible for it.. :-}
SleepyHead's has a new Beta testing team, who are currently helping me to make sure that 0.9.7 the best release ever.. When we are happy with the state of it, I plan on building BrokenGL, OpenGL and 64bit versions for Windows, all of them with an installer, BrokenGL build options will also be created for older macs too, and hopefully some Linux builds.
As for sleepfiles.com/SH, the correct builds available for your platform should be the only ones highlighted, with the two green arrows on each side. (It's only new code, and I'm no javascript master, so it might not highlight correctly in some (dodgy old) browsers.)
Oh, and Sclark08, thanks.. that really helps. I've fixed thousands of bugs, and yes, I've probably made a few more in the process which need more work, but overall SleepyHead is getting more and more polished with every release. What specifically has changed that disappoints you?

Re: Sleepyhead 9.6 won't install
We all appreciate the work and time you have put into this.
I haven't been keeping track of my numbers for some time and wasn't up on the latest version of Sleepyhead so i had to catch up and it threw me a curve when it told me the OPENGL version would work better.
So I tried to do what it told me and get the OPENGL version.
No problem. I am happy to wait for the OPENGL for Windows 64 bit ( or 32 bit ).
